You know I'm your fan, right?

I couldnt stop grinning the entire time. Life of a donut was a good ender to the reel, and you're the -only- one I've seen so far who has taken the anthropomorphizing of food products to its logical conclusion. No one else had the balls!

The Autostart commercial is GENIUS.... night of the Unfed is brilliant too, and the synch of cookies to the lone rider was cute too.

Man, I'm your fan. If you had money, a top-notch tech crew and equipment, you could be the next ... well.... the next Willy Wonka meets Kubrik? Strained analogy, hard to describe. anyway, keep it coming man, I promoted this!

Good stuff!

Hey, thanks!!

I actually played Willy Wonka once in a school play.  Wonka meets Kubrick?  Hmm, odd, for sure, but I like it!  Thanks for the kind words...one of these days I will obtain said lots of money and a techy crew...one of these days.

Demo Reel thoughts

Hey it is really cool in many ways. I love the donut film, although  the boy donuts voice seemed a little high pitched, I thought it was a girl at first. :-)

The local spots are great, witty, and humorous, and running over the axe murderer was great.

The rest of this is pretty brutal, but your work is so good, you are hurting yourself where it is weak. Please remember it is only my thoughts on the subject, and demo reels are such a tough thing to guage.

The glaring weakness is that when your reel starts, I have no idea what it is for, that is what you are an actor, a director, etc. no idea.

Some of the images are cinematic, but many are not, and are confusing. What are you selling yourself as? a Production Company? A Director, a Cinematographer, An Editor? All three? I face the same challenge in my demo reel.

The guy with the map screaming excuse me. What is that about? Some guy screaming for direction and not getting it? And the drop shadow moving, ugghhhhh. Boring, too long, cheap.

Get me a Graphic - Cameraon Harrison Productions, or Cameran Harrison Director/Cameraman, White on Black, do a glow pass accross it, with a drop of music, then go into the Montage - The China one is good, then use just the glitzy looking stuff.

All I've ever heard about demo reels is 1. you had better grab the viewer quickly, and 2. Everyone is looking for their commercial or film on your reel.

Other than that, I wouldn't bother to keep slating what youdid on each job. Just the Job name, the title, client and agency (if there was one) and run time. If it was a national ad, you might list that. Listing the Client and or Agency is only so that future clients see who you have been working for

Oh yeah, don't mention the Donut thing was a school project, who cares, it is a cute piece. That you were the "Copy Writer" is probably the most valuable piece of that, for getting a 30 minute show.

The work is nice. The local spots are great.

I'm getting lost and annoyed at the opening.

Your contact info is local, but what is the area code, or are you too small time to be contacted by people out of your local area code? That is what you are saying dude.

Hope you find this helpful, and not too brutal. Really a lot of fine work.

Thanks for the comments

Hey, no problem!  Actually I havn't really had my demo reel critiqued, so I'm glad you did.  Yeah, I've struggled with what to do with the begining.  I'll try giving what you suggested a shot.  And the contact info is actually all outdated and needs redone now anyhow.  So I'll make sure to put in the area code and whatnot.  Anyway, glad you liked the content and thanks for the suggestions on the presentation.  It's definately appreciated!
