Havent posted one of these in a while....SUNG TO THE TUNE OF 'WKRP IN CINCINNATI"
Baby, if you've ever wondered,
Got kind of tired packing and unpacking, I'm walking the ADT in Cincinnati.
Up and out of the city today. As I stopped for a lunch at Subway, I go to pay and the people at the counter say someone else had bought my lunch…what? Who? So I eat up and walk along the trail, again I am recognized by some business guys at a table who have a ‘dive-club’ meaning they like to eat at dives, they don’t dive in the ocean. My kind of peeps. We chat and I move on into the pretty day. I stop at the Pied Piper Clock and watch some of the story and listen to the chimes as they go. It’s a neat site here in Goebel Park. Then we hike up and over interstates and city streets to the very nice Devou Park. Wow. Great views from up here. After I sit and read the rest of MYSTIC RIVER, I make my way out of the big city. A Construction worker stops and hands me a cold V8, nice, and I continue to road walk. I have a couple more instances of ‘local fame’ from folks who watch the news and one case of “IDIOT!” being yelled at me from a car that has primer and about five different types of tape holding it together from the looks of it. I reach Anderson Ferry after a fast 5 mile road walk and get on and cross the river….back into Ohio. Much like the Godfather III, they keep pulling me back in. Tonight I think of sleeping by the river here, but as I go to set up camp a guy who looks eerily like Captain Spalding from Rob Zombies movie THE DEVILS REJECTS comes over and sits about ten feet from me and my tent. He doesn’t say a word even when I talk. What he does is open an umbrella-ella-ella-ah-ah and hold it over his head. It aint raingin and its only partially sunny now that it is getting later. He smiles at me and his teeth are black. Ya know, he may have been as docile as a church mouse, but something in the air wasn’t right, so I packed it up and rolled on. I find out there zero places to camp, so I have to end up getting another hotel, this time the Comfort Inn, and God almighty I hate this as I am going to go broke if I don’t get further west soon. Anyway, a cold room is better then a scary guy sitting by me all night in the woods by a river even if it shoots my budget all to hell.
