Teenagehood?
That's a REAL writer. Dare to make up your own words. That's a real writer.
Incredibly interesting work. Great Character. Brilliant concept.

Would this be considered "STOP MOTION"
Watching this film for I've lost count how many times...I know this is how I would like to share More At Grace. I think I would like the sketches more detailed...but DREAM OF HOME is perfect. I love this film.
Andrew gave me a blueprint (Alright...first comes the) that I read twice daily. I am now watching DREAM OF HOME twice daily. I'm doing rewrites and polishing my script.
MY QUESTION: Is DREAM OF HOME considered "stop motion"? If not, what?
Like a Stallion...
Stop motion? no.
Hi Jackie
No... that's not stop motion animation. Stopmotion & claymation.. you take an inanimate object (like mr sunshine) and shoot each pose one frame at a time, then assemble the sequence of frames into a motion picture. For example, to get Mr Sunshine to wave... I would stand him up with his hand raised, shoot a frame, careully move his hand verrrrry slightly to one side... shoot another frame... move it again slighttly farther in the same direction, shoot another frame.. move it again... until 15 poses/frames later I've achieved 1/2 sec of his wave (at 30 frames-per-second).
Continuing on... I must then begin manipulating his hand in the other direction in equally small increments... one frame at a time... and so forth.
Finally - hours later... i've got him waving for a few seconds. =)
(not really "hours" .. that was for dramatic effect)
A more complex scene, tho, *would* take hours - if different characters need to move in the same scene. it can become quite complex!
THAT's stop-motion baby! yeah!
What would DREAM OF HOME be considered?
Hmmmm... the best reply would be from the creator of the film...
take it away, Marco! =)
I call it "Ken Burns animation" :)
Its a style born out of necessity.. just like Ken Burns sometimes only had a few photographs to fill 60 seconds of airtime... and he had to pan them.. zoom them... black-and-white-them, flash them.. spin them around..... thats me too. I only have so many "watercolors" and lots of dialogue... 5 minutes for something like 30 to 40 "frames". So I need to squeeze all the juice I can out of them. Its almost the opposite of stop motion.. stop motion will actually shoot a different frame at a rate of 12 (or the purists) 24 per second.. my respects to that, truly, but I just dont have that kind of time to make so many "watercolors" :)
I'm very honored that you like this Jackie. Its not very very hard to make... is just a lot of work. Basically you just load all your illustrations in Flash, drag them on the timeline, and "tween" them. "Tween" is a flash term for the motion that a certain object has on the screen. It can mean change its position, its size, its opacity, color, proportions, etc. Ken Burns would have loved it.
The most challenging part of this series is the sound, by far. First I record all my lines into separate sound files, and use a AV Voice Changer Diamond to change the timbre and pitch, so that I can do several characters myself. Then I've gathered a large library of royalty free loops and effects... and I use sourceforge.net's audacity to create those little sparse tunes you hear every now and then. You'll notice I reuse them a lot too. Then in Flash I just try to put everything together..... I did 15 episodes before I ran out of juice. Hopefully, KC will give me the energy to finish the series all the way to episode 40, which is where the story.. kind of ends :)
U thinkin...
... of using dis style for VOAT?
Most def!!
Its the only thing I can afford, actually... but it may look good in the dvd, giving variety and all... plus, I can go crazy-go-nuts with the FXs! bring on the 'sploding airplanes!
