Emmy Award winner veteran writer John Hill in our next Radio Show! on SATURDAY

Quantum Leap

Exciting news people.

John Hill (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0384398/) has agreed to be our next guest for the KarmaRadio show!

John Hill has been working as writer (and sometimes producer) for the Hollywood studio system since before I was born 30 years ago. He wrote and/or produced some of the best episodes of QUANTUM LEAP,  and L.A. LAW, for which he won an Emmy. If you havent seen QUIGLY DOWN UNDER you owe it to yourself to.

Not coincidentally, he is EZ's Jedi Master, his mentor, one of the (perhaps) three people in the world who can yell at him and have him just reply "thank you sir, may I have another" :) You know you wanna see that!! So tune in at 7 pm, NEXT SATURDAY.

Notice the day change, its not Sunday, since John Hill is busy editing his latest movie, so we moved it to SATURDAY, at 7 pm, just this one time.

The show is going to have a slightly different format, it will feel more like an interview instead of a chat, and the callers from the audience will have an opportunity to ask a question or two, then make room for the next caller.

It'll be fun, but most of all very very very educational!

Tune up peoples!

Is this the whole hour?

Is this the whole hour?

Why not make it the whole hour, with the format you just mentioned. I'll make a shorter intro that focuses just on him. And, we nix the segment files, just do the shortened intro, and our closing. This could be a "special presentation".

Then, do our regularly scheduled show on Sunday. What do you think?

I'd agree;  I'd say let's skip the Karmacritique and make Saturday a special Caller Q and A section; or, of course, Saturday could be special with Mr. Hill and Sunday could be the Indie/and or Zombie film regularly scheduled program.

Complications Ensue

This particular weekend, I dont think I can have shows both saturday and sunday. Its a surprise that only Peceno knows about for the moment, but I'm building something rather big, I would really burn out if I had to do two shows.

John Hill is going to call exactly at the 20 minute mark, so ED, if you dont wish to do a critique this saturday, I understand man, but it means I'll have to come up with some other segment just this one time to fill the first 20 minutes :(

Ah, Ok! I understood that it was all going to be a Q and A...Ok, I'll do a KarmaCritique as usual!

What's the theme? Indie

What's the theme? Indie films ? Should I review El Mariachi? PLanet Terror? Never seen Quigly, and, once again, don't know if I can get enough time away from the CAESAR shoot to search out something I don't have.

In a perfect world...

In a perfect world I would be able to send you QUIGLY either via VHS or internet, and then the show's theme would be "John Hill". But, like you said, time is not entirely in our favor, so we'll have to make do with whatever is at your reach man. John Hill worked for 30 years under the old hollywood studio system, so any movie that has to do with hollywood would be a good fit. Or any movie that has to do with screenwriting. Or any movie he has worked on, there's a big list in IMDB above, but chances are you havent seen them. So failing all that, choose any movie you feel its best man, having John Hill wins out against having a unified theme :/

I'm willing to wait as long as I have to for the zombie episode.

Do you have questions for John Hill?

For the first time, I'm going to have a list of pre-prepared questions to ask John Hill on the air.

Is there anything you'd like to ask him? Reply here and post it, I'll ask him on your behalf. Even if you plan to call in during the show and ask him yourself (which would be a lot better, actually!), please do post your question here anyway to give me ideas on what I should study up ahead of time.

Thanks everyone!

Segment Pieces....

Well, if this is going to be a regular show, than we can keep the feel of it regular, using the Critique intro, etc. Please let me know soon though, what I need for the Intro. What segments are we keeping for this one show? What are we throwing out for this one show??

I'll try to shorten the Critique intro too becuase 30 seconds, with 25 of it being just music, is a bit on the long side.

For the Critique, why not Quantum Leap?? Or even a comparison between Quantum Leap and the new NBC show, Journeyman?

Intro

Hey Eric,

I dont know what movie will the critique be about yet (Quantum Leap is a great idea!!), that'll be up to ED, but I know:

Segment 2: The KarmaGuest: John Hill (see bio above)

Segment 3: The KarmaChat: where anyone is encouraged to call up and ask John Hill questions

I really dont mind the way the Critique clip is today, but if you really wish to shorten it, whatever makes you happy my friend :)

Intro and Quantum Leap

Thanks. At least this way I have an outline of what's going to happen.

We'll see about the Critique shortening. I may not have time to figure that out, but you'll have an intro at least. Since, it's a regular show (somewhat modified in format), I'll go ahead and keep the fake intro I sent for you to hear earlier. haha.

If it had just been Mr. Hill for the full hour, I would've left that out and gone with a shorter intro. But, we'll use it. Although, everyone might think I have lost it mentally after hearing it. HAHA!

And, that's cool you liked the Quantum Leap idea. I was throwing that out for ED. I don't know if he had the chance to see it or not though. I know that some critics are saying Journeyman is a lot like Quantum Leap. It'd be interesting to hear Mr. Hill's thoughts on what he thinks of Journeyman, if he has seen it. I have to admit that I have only seen a few minutes of Journeyman, myself. haha.

QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER

Quigley would be the perfect film to talk about and then seg into the introduction of John Hill. But don't forget guys, he did work on CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, so maybe this could be a topic also.

And of course we can't forget that he won an emmy for his work on LAW AND ORDER.

And ALSO, remember that John is doing this as a favor for me, so let's take advantage of having him and ask well thought out questions. John Hill is a pro that has worked in the studio system for 30 years! This will be very educational for all aspiring writers that have their eye set on hollywood. Nobody listens to me, maybe someone will listen to the pro--the guy who taught me, the guy who I owe a lot to and respect with the highest of respect. He is truly my Jedi Master and he's tough. Listen, some of you think I'm tough, this guy is a drill sergeant and has the credits and track record and is very insightful. He is genuine, smart and won't lie to you and has a lot to share with everyone re: the world of movies in the studio system, and not only that---how to make an independent film since he just directed one.
