i'm a screenwiriter..i love DRAMA

Do me a favor and someone tell Emerson Bixby to kiss my aspiring ASS...he is a no body and obviously he doesn't know what he was talking about..my screenplay placed in a contest and will be announced in Creative Screenwriting Magazine...

I believe there was hundreds of screenplays I competed against rather than 19..Maybe he would of liked it if he was able to read more than 20 pgs. but o well..

Also he cusses too much... that MothaF'n Dumb Fuc* Needs to go get himself an EDU-MA-CATION..PIECE of SHIZZNITT!!

No Personal Attacks

The policy in KC is no Personal Attacks. I'm letting this post be, because I'm trying to empathize with the fact you're feeling hurt, but you have to remember: Emerson never insulted your person, he only attacked your script. So there's no reason (nor right) for you to attack his person. Anyway, I'll let it be for now unless Emerson complains, but please, remember KC is no place for Personal Attacks, and I hope you feel better later, if you do win in that other contest, many congratulations and best of luck.

Wow, Cy, you need to take

Wow, Cy, you need to take a deep breath, man. That's three threads you posted this message in. Can you honestly say you weren't expecting this kind of tongue-lashing? And, while there were some surprises, his criticisms were on the money. If you don't like them, fine, since everyone has an opinion and not even Mr. Bixby's is holy writ, but this kind of hostility...it doesn't do you any good, man.

Silver + Vampires

Emerson Bixby! Thanks for all of the comments and compliments.

Me and My Vampires will take the Silver. So glad you like the concept.

I'm on a cloud right now. "...cool, original concept for a movie that I'd sell my spleen to see." -Emerson Bixby

I think Dawn Akemi should be one of the vampires. Here's a link to the script, http://www.karmacritic.com/node/1864 for those of you reading who want to take a look.

And thank you for reading everybody's pages. That took some time!

Woo Hoo,

High Concept

I think what he loved about your work was just how off-the-wall it is, it reminds me of something John Hill said during the previous radio-show, he calls it "High Concept". Something that can be put in a sentence or two, and screams "get this movie made!". Many congrats Donna May, it couldnt have happened to a better person!

no one likes a POOR sport

..i just like sharing what's on my mind...i'm not really mad..promise...he reminds me of SIMON from American Idol...

Hey all. Just wanted to say congrats to the finalists :D You deserved it!

F@#k me running

See, when you do this, it just fucks everything up for
me. I was supposed to be in the #20 slot, and if any of you out
there knew me and knew how big of an idiot I actually am, you'd get
that that's not humility but rather the simple truth. I like to
think I have a firm grip on the English language, but at moments like
this I'm reminded how small and feeble words really are. I owe a
debt to Mr. Bixby and the whole Karmacritic crew that I simply cannot
repay, so I offer the oly thing I have which is thank you very
much. For your kindness and work, thank you beyond words.
That was mighty nice of you.

By the way, if you need any evidence
of how much of an asshole I am, check out how this bullshit reads like
fucking Oscar speech, and I really did is manage to not get tossed out
on my ass as I so richly deserved.

If it's just ridiculous, it's bad.

IF IT IS RRIIIDDDIICCUUULLOOUUSS, then it's okay.

FableForge's picture

Congrats... its WELL DESERVED

Man, your concept is a winner. "High Concept" again, like John Hill said. You turned the tale of Red Riding Hood around, made her the predator, to have her hunt werewolves.. its just something people would love to see.

Man, Emerson said that he already has some interest in getting this film made somehow. Listen, I'm so glad for you. You're someone so easy to root for, you're straight forward, honest, humble, write amazing characters...  man, we're here for you. What do you need? How could we help you, heck, how can -I- help you?  I have a very good feeling about this man.

But again: its well deserved. You earned this gold medal dude. Its yours, fair and square! Now write the best fucking screenplay of your life, and let us know how to help!

To Marco and the Top Five SUBLIM Finalists.

I listened to the show pretty late last night. It was a good show. It's definitely one for the controversy hall of fame, but it was good. haha.

I'll be checking out the top five finalist's scripts sometime soon. I want to see where these go. Congratulations to those who won.

Now Marco, on to business. Since my SUBLIM intro was what you dumped your entire show's budget in to....where's my check? ;) hahaha. Naturally, I'm kidding. Hearing Bixby laugh and enjoying that piece was definitely a "payment" worthwhile. :)

Eric

Your clips shined last night man!!

You know, I'm listening to the show right now... and ack, I'm really really not liking the way I sound again, I thought I had made peace with it, but I guess next to Bixby even Bill Maher would sound boring, -except- for your clips Eric! Your clips really did brighten up the whole thing, the jokes are so silly that we couldnt help but laughing, and reworking "Take me out to the ball game" for

Emerson Bixby has made up his choice

now you can hear it from his own voice

...that was worth the whole price of admission right there man, so to speak!

You just keep bringing it week after week man...... ehehe.. it was awesome!

Good Listening

Now that was fun! It's fascinating to hear so many of the voices of KC!

Kudos to:

Eric for his engaging & creative audio production

Marco for being an excellent host, as good in person as online. Not boring at all... good foil, great listener... and we gotta love that accent!

Emerson Bixby for reading through everyone's stuff.

...What a thrilling nexus of energy this site is!

Marco

You stepped up big time and did a great job with your intro and made clear your intent.

Eric's singing was funny, a bit long though ;)

Bixby is a real pleasure to listen to, very funny. I laughed.

My favorites, for the record are:

1. Out Of The Loop by Jan.

2. E's Gringo flick.

One thing to consider is that not all producers want all types of scripts.

I have respect for all the writers that entered the contest.

Songs were hilarious

Thank you, Marco. I've got to get working on it now. I'll definintely be absent from the site after tonight.

Eric, your songs were very funny last night. I didn't want to miss a word. Great job.

You guys are way too kind :)

Complimenting my accent is like saying an eyepatch makes someone interesting, hehehe, probably true, but not the wearer's choice :) Still I appreciate it a lot, I cant help it, so I guess I'd better start learning to like it :)

And yes, I was overselling the harshness of Bixby,.. did this on purpose... I learned this trick at a Disneyworld queue line: underpromise and overdeliver, makes people happy-er :)

I really enjoyed Bixby's comments though, and I realize how much it meant, for him to be with us that day of all days, when his father's last work was being officially released... and having spent days reading our work, all of it. I feel I owe him a big favor.

Donna, I'm really glad you're one of the winners!! Yes, I totally understand you'll be busy working, thats good! Make a great script, make us proud!

I agree Eric's production brings it all to the next level.... the show simply wouldnt be the same without him, not by far. Thanks everyone! Glad you liked it!

Dona

I would like to see it again

;)

bix's picture

not an apology....

I don't withdraw any of my comments toward the scripts I did not like, however there's something I should have made more clear...
Some of the scripts that blew still had intresting concepts, but were written poorly.   I don't want to discourage anyone from pursuing their dream, not even CyFLY.  Dude, if you 100% believe in your script, then make it work.  Revise, remove anything that rings as unrealistc of cliche, and make it work.  Odds are you'll end up being a cop or a doctor or a teacher or something, because very few people manage to get into Hollywood.  Having said that, some do.  And if you can't make this script work, write another, and then another.  Keep at it until you impress the assholes who said you wouldn't make it.
I admit my approach isn't user friendly.  I asked an A-list producer if one of his films was on a dare, I cussed out a director at the premier of his latest crappy 100+ million dollar CGI snor-fests, I suggested an actress shave her head and glue it to her face because ugly men are more acceptable in society than ugly women.   I don't lie, I don't pull punches.  Life's too short.
So to the people who didn't make it, to the writers I've offended and upset, don't give up.  Big Bad Scary World out there, and Hollywood is the Bastard Monther-In-Law of all the monsters your parents claimed weren't hiding in your closet.  Most of you won't make it.  Others will crawl back home, outraged and broken.  But some of you may become famous one day...
