Dan Gadberry, News Cameraman

Hitler

It was a great show, although if I suddenly dissapear and all records of my existence are wiped out, keep in mind that

  • I brought some comparisons between Hitler and Bush during ED's review.
  • Mentioned the 9/11 Truth Movement.
  • And said some networks are biased, while others are just, ehem, "fair and balanced" :)

That said, it was a great show! Thanks so much  ED as always for a thoughtful review, I enjoy getting a bit philosophical with you. And Dan the Man Gadberry, thanks for being such awesome guest!

Marco!

Not much time....guys in black vans out front.  Shotguns.  Something about homeland security.  Dogs barking.

Gonna try and escape out the back.  Surely they won't have thought of that.

 Run, Marco. Run!

ED and Marco

Probably too late, but I suggest escaping through the Undergrdound Railroad passage that's underneath your homes?

There should be a train at the end of the passage that will take you both to Freedom. Ride, Freedom Train, Ride! :-P

FableForge's picture

Homeland Security was easy...

I just pointed away and yelled "Look! Some Iranian-looking guy at the gas station! Can you afford NOT to check him for WMDs??!!" and off they went while I slipped out. The REAL challenge were the FOX goons clad in star-spangled riot-gear and wielding red white and blue electric batons, chasing me in dark alley ways while black vans patrolled the streets outside with loudspeakers playing competing loops of Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, like a disconnected debate. Now that was scary. :)

News & Views

Another great show, guys! Intelligent hosting from Marco and good slick production from Eric. I was personally very interested in these topics, and I like the way the guests had time to talk.

ED, a thought-provoking review, combining art and history nicely. (Although I don't buy September 11th as a Reichstag fire.) Dan, I loved hearing your cameraman stories, and remember that heavy 3/4 inch gear too. Your discussion with Marco about bias in journalism was timely indeed. (I even learned a new word out of it: "Franken-edit".) Not to mention the excitement of those war stories.

My favourite moment, though, was that KORN report from Fallujah: "Oh no, my cameraman's dead. That's great... But it's 2-for-1 beers down the street and his wallet's sittin' there..."

Must get my act together and call you guys sometime!

FableForge's picture

Do call! :)

Hey Dave, absolutely, I'd love you to call sometime, I'll ask you what time is it in australia, and in which direction do toilets flush... once that's out of the way I may then indulge in silly questions :)

Glad you liked the show, Eric does bring it to the proverbial next level with his production work. The 9/11-Reichstag Fire thing.... hmm....  I dont know, I have some questions. One thing I do see very clearly is that both events gave the men in power permission to suspend a degree of civil liberties and consolidate power. The 9/11 Truth Movement... I don't buy 100% of what they say, but they do make me wonder. Why did Cheney ordered NORAD down on 9/11... how hot does airplane fuel really burn... why was building 7 pulled down, where's the remains of the pentagon crash...  just questions. We'll make a Radio show about it someday.

KORN was hillarious!!! I SOOO hope Eric and Dan keep making these segments, I love them!!

Dan was a great guest, everything you can hope for in a guest: lots of interesting stories, fluency to pick up even when I as a host muddle up the question, and wit!

I'm pleased with how the show went, I just wish the last greeting card clip Eric made had played fine, but well, it just makes anticipation for next time :)

videowilliams's picture

The Big Questions

I wish that greeting card clip had played too! A major reason why I listened to this week's show was 'cos I thought I'd get to hear my own voice in it. (Yes, I'm really that shallow.) Good thing the rest of you were so good!

I'll certainly call you for the next one (please PM me ahead of time) and will be speaking to you from 15 hours ahead- so in theory I should know everything you're going to say before you even say it. For the sake of suspense, I'll hold off answering that hoary old question "Do the toilets flush the opposite way down there?" until the on-air interview. But don't worry, I'll be ready: in L.A. two months ago, robk and Dawn and I performed the control experiment: observing carefully which way the water swirled down an American toilet... I think the answer may surprise you.

My last visit to L.A. had been September 2001, which put me there on 9/11. (Or more accurately, stranded: when they grounded all the airlines, half my trip went out the window.) I stood in front of the hole in the Pentagon 5 days later, thanks to a friend in the US Navy, as pictured here:

PentagonDave

So this would make for an awesome topic of discussion! If we're talking 9/11 conspiracy theories, I don't think there's any topping this compelling line of reasoning...

...Truthers... sheesh... Oh- almost forgot- I just watched "Downfall" and found it totally riveting. Which is strange, because we all know the ending already. Those poor Germans: all their films about World War Two (like Das Boot, Stalingrad, and Downfall) are invariably tragedies about the futility of war. They can never play it heroic, because their country was destroyed by what they did. Such a contrast to the British-American take!

Very cool!!!

Sad... but no doubt Marco and ED will be added to the "No Fly" lists soon... hope you like your holidays at home.  You guys give good commentary.

I loved "Downfall"... really don't think its too soon at all to examine the humanity and nature of a man whose name has become synonymous with "evil"... cliched portrayals of evil do not serve us in exploring where evil can grow.  "Downfall" is a very powerful and important movie.

Dan... you live a fascinating life... thanks for sharing some of it with us!!! You are a funny man... and by "funny", I mean "witty" as opposed to "strange"... hmmm, on second thought, maybe I mean both!!!

Tongue out

Great work, Eric!

It's so fun to hear your voices.  Thank you to everyone!!!!

No Fly List!

The interesting thing is that I share my first and last name with a guy who is the spokesman of the FARC (colombian paramilitary classified as a terrorist group here in the US). I soo hope No Fly lists have some more data points other than just the name, or else I'm screwed :)

 My history class once did

My history class once did a video on the similarities between 9/11 and Pearl Harbor, which I guess I'll put up on here one day, but my opinion on the REichstag fire is...

1)Historically, all eveidence points to communist-disidents as the actual setters of the fire.  Hitler just reacted quickly and used the situation to his advantage.

2) I do think that the 9/11 attacks were a period of confusion in the government: we just weren't ready, and we made some decisions that didn't make sense.  I don't see a conspiracy in it: I see confusion.   Now, I do think the government used 9/11 like Hitler used the Reichstag fire, to consolidate power and advance a particular cause.

Klunkity-klunk!

It is remarkable how the collapse of the Twin Towers looks very similar to a controlled demolition. Not saying anything here... just that its remarkable.

And why the heck did Building 7 collapse? (Marco... its interesting that you use the term "pulled down" instead of "collapse").

Dave... In your picture, I had forgotten how tiny that hole looks in the Pentagon, by my estimation only 3 windows across... is that really the width of an airplane, including explosion damage...? Still wondering why there is no wing damage. And, yes, where are the aircraft remains...?

What about the remains of the Pennsylvania crash....?

I have alot of questions too...

Frown

FableForge's picture

It -was- pulled :)

Well, I dont know what theofficial story is anymore, regarding WT7... here's a clip that -seems- to say that the firemen thought they werent going to be able to contain the fire, so they called the leaseholder, Mr. Silverstein, and he gave them the go-ahead to "pull it". Does that mean "pull it down" as in demolition terms, or does that mean "pull out" as in get the firemen out? Judge yourself, here:

You know......... I think we should ask ED to review the best movie of the 9/11 Truth movement.. then have a whole show debating the topic.. sounds like an idea?

Evildirector's picture

Sounds great,

Sounds great, but:

Make it in two weeks, not next week.

KORN reports on Conspiracies

Actually, it'd have to be at least 2 weeks out.. This Sunday's guest is YouTube's highest ranked musician, Scott Monaghan, and as it turns out, this Sunday is also his birthday. :)

http://www.karmacritic.com/node/2342

Whenever you do this episode, Marco, let me know with a little more advanced notice. I'll see if Dan and I can work up another KORN report about conspiracies.

Alright, this little triple-whammy of a faith-crusher is called Zeitgeist. Say hello to my leetle frrendh:

http://zeitgeistmovie.com/

Lets schedule this for a show two weeks from now.. no guests.. but I hope ED and Videowilliams, Eric, Dawn, Brendan etc call in.. just one huge mega panel to argue this out :)

I'll make a formal post about it :)

FableForge's picture

I had forgotten how powerful this movie is

Oh man, watching this again this morning for the second time, I just had to stop. I just had to stop.... man. It still floors me.

Just wanted to share that. Anyway... we'll talk about this in two weeks, ED, Eric, Dawn and Dave, please do make time for this movie, any time, I'm just really interested in knowing your opinion on them.

And yeah, radio show in two weeks..

DawnAkemi's picture

Hmmm... that opens new questions...

For instance... buildings aren't built ready to be "pulled". Controlled demolitions take pre-planning and bomb placement. How could they be ready? On 9/11? So propitiously?

Here's a website talking about the process behind building implosions:

http://science.howstuffworks.com/building-implosion.htm

So, golly, the rabbit hole just goes deeper and deeper....

Brendan Morrisey's picture

Have you ever heard the shit

Have you ever heard the shit Rose O'Donald says about 9/11 being pre-planned? She says metal doesn't melt. It amazes me how famous some really stupid people are.

Controlled Demo

Welcome to the age of disinformation.

According to a student I once taught, who did a documentary about the towers (birth and death), the design of the towers was that it would "Pancake" on top of itself if it was to fall.  Kind of makes sense for a design parameter when you have a really tall set of buildings tightly surrounded by lots of other buildings.

I remember a few months after the towers fell, some politician decided that there needed to be an investigation into why the Towers fell as they did. A big Tadoo was made. In the end I'm not sure the "investigation" happened. Perhaps someone pointed out that the buildings collapsed in that way, because that was how they were designed.

Television makes us all cattle. I've really got to start catching the Sunday night radio show.

Why The Towers Collapsed

I think that 9/11 episode is a must, Marco! Beginning with a question to ask of every guest on the show: "where were you when you heard the news?" It was the JFK assassination of our time. I remember a South African cartoon that showed the buildings being hit and the words "MY GOD, DID YOU FEEL THAT?" circling round the world.

In terms of these specious claims (sorry Dawn, sorry Marco) about its being a controlled demolition, here are 3 clips from a documentary (Why The Twin Towers Collapsed) that explain it in pure engineering terms. It was no more of a conspiracy than the sinking of the Titanic. It was a case where several things went perfectly wrong for the structures involved, their structural limits were overwhelmed, and physics tragically took its course...

...I still find it a horror to watch.

DawnAkemi's picture

So many theories...

Dave, I did not say one way or the other whether I truly believe the twin towers were a controlled demolition... I just said they looked remarkably like one.

I've read and heard other very plausible scientific explanations as why the towers collapsed... there are alot of theories out there.  I'm not sure what to believe.

Your above explanation did not touch upon Building 7 at all, which is the specific building that Marco and I were addressing.

All I am saying is that I have alot of questions that have never satisfactorily been answered.  And, like many things, there are no simple answers (or videos) that cover all the complex issues of that horrible and horrifying day.

Building 7

Missing the raido show, I miss everything. Building 7 burned for a week and wasin fact  the actual home of the M.I.B. The Battery Tunnel entrance is just the battery tunnel entrance.
