 Good stuff, man. I like

Good stuff, man. I like how you clearly you present the basic techniques (a problem I run into with my film class...how to simply convey the established rules and guidelines of cinema).

"There Comes a Time in Every Man's Life When He Must Spit on His Hands, Hoist the Black Flag, and Start Slitting Throats."

cool

I like simplifying everything and finding the right metaphor so that everyone can understand.

Then there are the jackasses who think that not knowing the rules is somehow going to b  translated into a "style", as if they intentionally CHOSE to break the rules, as opposed to simply being ignorant of them. These movies always come off as amateurish and bad rather than stylized.

Rules are meant to be broken, but you actually have to know and understand them first so that you can break them with a good reason.

FUNDAMENTALS

Fundamentals are essential, so yah... I guess its correct that you can't be ignorant in certain things… BUT…

As a young scientist… ARTIST, I believe every SCIENCE ends
with ART.  I believe that you only
learn through TRIAL and ERROR… TROUBLESHOOTING.  It is through this RESTRAINT that I LEARN, which allows me
to create more.

I know I talk about basketball a lot, but I just wanna tell
another story as a metaphor…

I played ball around da country… Hawaii, Vegas, Reno, LA,
San Francisco… and I learned something… everywhere I go, there will always be
that one dude that talks about FUNDAMENTALS… how you supposed to do it a
certain way… ALWAYS…  No matter
what reason… pick up games, or even leagues… and I’m thankful for that.

I used to panic during games because of their critiques and
coaching, making me think too much… trying to play their way, their game…
causing me not to PLAY MY GAME and not perform to MY ABILITIES.  After a while though… I learned how to absorb
some of their teachings, but yet, keep MY OWN STYLE, regardless of my
foundations…

P.S.  Check out
dat move I did on my hPALATINE hILL piece… it’s da move where I split da 2 guys
in half using a crazy spin that I INSTINCTIVELY DISCOVERED ON MY OWN.  THE WAY… and I know some of you who do
play basketball have already criticized that move… that I discovered and named
da hANDSOME PIROUETTE…  :)

MR. SONNYBOO!

I love that you're always being interviewed for stuff! That is great! And dude, I apologize that I haven't seen your film yet--I have some friends that saw it and thought it was way cool! Congrats!

well...

This wasn't an interview at all. After VIDEOMAKER MAGAZINE interviewed me, they hired me as a writer. I've written 2 articles so far and a 3rd and 4th are coming. They saw the MOVIEMAKING TECHNIQUES videos on YouTube and MySpace and hired me to do these new tutorial articles and videos.

Get to HORRORS OF WAR when you get the chance. Don't rush, as the build up will only disappoint. It's meant to be like GRINDHOUSE, etc. The movie does not take itself too seriously.

SERIOUSLY SERIOUS

that's cool. my movie doesn't take itself serious either. Actually, part of the joke throughout the film is, that it is making fun of itself!

And i doubt your flick will dissapoint! I'm just happy to know that you went out to make a film cause I know how hard it is to do it! vs. all the people on certain sites that just talk about making films and do nothing. Much respect to you!
