I have a couple of movies I'd like to send
Do they have a film submissions form yet? I didn't see anything on the site. One of the movies I have is not quite finished. Would they take a rough cut and if the would whats the final deadline?
Good Questions
No Submission forms, all submissions come through me. Just send me an email with the information about your movie (genre, synopsis, run time, website info if any, and since this is a public event we will need to know if there is a lot of violence or any nudity and other such heads up - those movies will still be considered, we'd just like to know)
There is no deadline yet, though I believe it will be sometime in July.
They are looking for completed films, no rough cuts, and they are looking for higher quality films nothing "youtubey". (I know vague description there)
They are accepting features and shorts. Room for features is extremely limited.
Final Submissions will need to be on DVD.
Oh, and other than the cost of mailing your submission there are no fees associated with movie submissions.
Any more questions let me know, things are moving kind of fast so if I forget some info make sure you tell me! When I get more information I will happily share it.

Got it.
I've only got feature length. Where can I send a copy. Does it matter that it has a distributor. Some festivals are funny about that. It's very high on the gore (definitely not PG-13 horror) but no nudity. Hopefully they'll consider us. Other festivals we've shown at have gotten a great response.
Send me the email with the
Send me the email with the details and I'll talk to you about what to do next. I'm open to films with distribution but the distributors have to be ok with it too so you should check with them.
Send the movie info to:

Thanks!
Just shot you an e-mail
Thanks!
COMI-CON
Is this convention anything like San Diego's Comi-con? If so, that's fun! I suggest all filmmakers submit to these kinds of events! It's good exposure!

Most likely not as big as
Most likely not as big as San Diego but yeah, it's the same thing.
!
Any exposure is good exposure. In general, if you're a filmmaker that does not have any representation, this is what you should do. Hit up all festivals. Let people know that you exist. Go to these type of events and meet people.
Fuck it. I'm tired of schooling people that don't listen.
EZEQUIEL
Dude you're totally right.
Dude you're totally right. That's just what Jerod and I have been doing ever since our first movie. It still strikes me that people know who I am when I go to conventions in Kentucky and meet someone from Chicago who who's like "Tempered Zealot! I know you, I saw your trailer".
I wrote an article about a year ago and did a presentation to the local IndieClub group about getting your self out there as well as your movies.
This is totally a great opportunity to get some exposure on a couple fronts and anyone who can do it should. This is just going to get bigger and the relationships you make this time around may just translate to something later on. Not to mention the special guests we'll have there who just may be connected.
Conventions are awesome places to meet not just stars but others like producers and artists and all kind of folks who might just know someone who knows someone and so on. Last year I only hit up two major conventions and I made some clear connections that I've been able to use to help make Ohio Comic Con something better.
I hope more people take the opportunity. It's really worth it.
Thank you
to all of you who have shown interest in this event. As soon as I get your movies I'll do my best to screen them and get back to you about what's next.
Just to let you know, if you have promotional items like posters or something that you'd like to have put up (and you can't make it out to the convention) I'll be happy to put those up for you if you send them to me. I know that seems to be a big thing at conventions with people posting posters and info sheets and one-sheet cards to pass around to promote the movie.
I'll have an IndieClub table at the event that I can pass out those cards if anyone has them or I can toss a few in different areas including in the screening area. Even business cards if you'd like to put those out.
Anyway, thanks again! This is very exciting!
Guest Update
Jason Mewes, Lou Ferrigno will be the Media Guests of Honor, for the rest, well, there are too many to actually post all the stuff about there here, but check the website for all the details.

Just a quick update. We got
Just a quick update. We got so many requests from filmmakers wanting to be part of this event that we ended up having to put a submission form together. You can download the form on the website's front page www.ohiocomiccon.net.
There are still no fees for submissions. There will be a screening process and filmmakers will be informed of the picks in July.
As the head organizers are still working out how things are going to go down, I'm still taking their ideas and things are in constant motion. Details will come in as they are decided on. There could be more to what is developing into a mini film festival of sorts.
Also, the word is getting out big time now. We hit the News Askew page today!

Mid Ohio Comicon
I just received word that Lure will screen and the Mid-Ohio-Con Indie Film Festival
That is great news, looks like a great festival and awesome convention!
Now in its 28th consecutive year, Mid-Ohio-Con is one of America’s longest-running and most successful comic book and pop-culture conventions, carrying on a fun and family-oriented tradition of bringing fans of all ages together with leading comic book writers and artists, film and television stars and creators, and publishers and retailers from across the nation.
Thanks to Justin Lewis for bringing this opportunity.

The Batmobile will also be there on display (I believe you can get photos with it)
The Film Festival is going to be really great, I think. Our panel of four judges is made up of well respected local "celebrities" who really know their stuff.
Announcements about films that made it in and awards will be posted on the site in the next couple weeks.
We also have a couple special screenings that will be announced later as well.
Which Batmobile? The word is
Which Batmobile? The word alone is just so vague now these days.

Who's?
Who's car is it? Just give a first name, if you know it.
I have no idea. If it's not
I have no idea. If it's not in that blog on the website then I don't know what to tell you to do to find out. I believe it's the actual car from the show, but I don't know much about those things as I don't follow that stuff at all.
No problem.
It's alright. I found out about the car in the photo, which was built by who I thought it was.
It's probably not the same replica that will be on display, but if it were the actual car built for the show, by George Barris, I'm not sure it'd be 'drivable'. There is a guy in that area who has purchased replicas, so I would venture to guess the car you'll have on display is his, but not built by the guy I'm thinking of.
I think...
Bruce Wayne owns the Batmobile ;)
Nice Laurels :)
Received this wonderful logo this morning :)
Full schedule to be posted soon. Some really cool flicks.
Mid-Ohio Comic-Con Indie Film Festival
Schedule is posted. Very nice line-up of films.
Thanks again Justin.
No problem, literally. It
No problem, literally. It wasn't me, it was all those who chose to submit their movies and then the great judges who had to sit through every single submission and look at the movies with a critical eye. We did a lot better than I had ever hoped and the movies we're screening are really very good. I'm excited. From what I heard from the owner yesterday during setup, the film fest is getting a lot of web traffic to the website and blog so I'm looking forward to a lot of people coming in to check it out. If that's the case then I'm sure they will hold another film festival next year.
Cool.
:)
