Steven Spielberg is a True Pirate!! hahahhaFound this news... Yeahhhh Steve is a TRUE PIRATE!!! "Is your local theater still doing things the old-fashioned way, and hasn't converted to digital projection yet? Don't sweat it, you'll still be able to catch INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL when it hits in a few months. In fact, that's the only way you'll be able to see the whip-smart relic collector, per orders of The Beard himself.Indy's cousin 'Ohio Munson' tells us Paramount is informing theaters that per Steven Spieberg, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL will NOT be available in digital format. The studio is requesting that complexes who can't project 35mm format let them know. There you have it. Our favorite scrappy part-time professor (who, sadly, is named after the dog) prefers to remain firmly in the 20th century for now. UPDATE: This has since been supported by another source, with the caveat of "unless Spielberg has a last minute change of heart"... likely meaning if sticking with analog has a significant impact on potential business (which seems improbable, since many theaters still have standard projectors on hand, and people will go wherever necessary to see the flick anyway)" Source: JoBlo by: Dave Davis Submitted by dxarach on February 29, 2008 - 9:20am. |

Amazing. Can you imagine the fight he must have had with Lucas?
Cuz we know Lucas -really- likes digital. My oh my, I would have paid payperview tickets to see that cage match.
But I'm glad Spielberg won. Indy deserves to be seen as we remember him... and if you were to play all four movies back to back, it should be seamless. Thats how I want Dr. Jones displayed. Good call by "The Beard" :)
Yeah It's really great that
Yeah It's really great that Spielberg had this idea... I love him, he's great!! What he said: "I'm doing this for you, guys" (talking about Indy4) seems to be really true...
And I hope, that we all are going to have a great time seeing that everwanted movie, that is Indy4... OMG Can't wait to MAY22th!!! :(
I LOVE THAT
It's funny that he said "I'm doing for you guys". Cause I always say that. I'm no spielberg, but part of my thought process is, I want to do it for an audience! Isn't that the point anyway?
EZEQUIEL

Yeah EZ, and it's the key of success, but Spielberg hasn't said that since... E.T... so you know...
It's really cool, hearing him saying that, cause I think he have mistaken a little in his lastest films... Maybe he lost that essence that he's now recovering... A film must be made UNIVERSAL, and for an AUDIENCE. If a director wants to make some art, that only himself understand... he better go to a shop and buy some paints and start make some painting of his butt, or whatever he likes... :P Films have to be made to the audience, ever...
We have ye'ol spielberg at out ship!!! arrrrrr he's gonna deserve some rum....
Good News

Why just don't release 35mm
Why just don't release 35mm and/or digital copies were avialable instead of pushing theaters to adopt one system or another? I understand Spielberg's intemption to preserve the classic look for the film but this wasn't just a bit unnecesary? Many people (average joes I mean, not just pirate captains :D) can't tell the difference betwen a digital projector and a 35 mm.

it is no viable the way that Spilberg wants
but it is a kind of making noise before the movie goes to the theaters
