Nice interview.
Are you nervous when your movie plays before an audience for the first time?
I get the see my short LURE at a new state of the art digital theater in about 3 weeks as part of http://caindiefilmfest.org/ The block it plays in is expected to sell out.
Do you pace the back of the theater? ;)
James Cameron was quoted/interview that the worst thing about directing was "when lights go down at the first preview." Page 219 The Film Director, Richard L. Bare.
thanks

I don't know if "nervous" is the right word. I'm eagerly anticipating, and excited, but rarely ever "nervous".

Nope. I seat myself dead center of the group of people or near the front so I can see, feel, and hear every person's reaction around me. It's an immersive experience for me to try to see and hear and experience the movie through OTHER people's eyes, ears, and minds. An audience is an amorphous, uncontrollable mob that varies from group t group and the beast that is a crowd is one that most people aspire to control.

A preview screening determines the fate of a studio movie. It's not like opening night with the public. Two different animals and two VERY different out comes.
Thanks Sonnyboo!!
