I can read or view something that I don't agree with or even find tasteful -- and still not be affected by it. All these people who get in to, "you should do this or don't do that" forget that true discernment is about being immersed in something without it changing who you are.
A great analogy I once heard - "You go down to the water. You take the bottle out of the water. You take the cap off the bottle. You pour out the water. You put the cap back on the bottle. You put the bottle back in the water. Now, the bottle is in the water, but the water is not in the bottle."
