New characters, more action, more budget, Del Toro is making this cult
comic book growing more and more in the mainstream and I'm happy of
that. Geek side of me.

I'm a fan of Del Toro from long ago, and I'm sure this movie will not dissapoint me. This is the second trailer, and we can see more of the plot on it. A certain Prince Nuada from another dimension is trying to declare war to our world and Hellboy is our last hope, simple and clean plot for a pop corn movie, but as always, Del Toro will explode his ability to attach complex relationships under apparently simple and linear arcs, like the fact of Hellboy being a demon sent to destroy the humans and how he has to deal with it now he is more human alike than a supernatural weapon of mass destruction. The name of the sequel is THE GOLDEN ARMY, wich is somekind of secret weapon trying to being awaken by Nuada in order to conquer our world. Thousands of robotic-golem like soldiers with enough power to destroy the humankind.

In the last movie Del Toro took elements directly from the comic book by Mike Mignola, but this one is a brand new line up all crafted by the mexican director, wich is now in the line to develop the LOTR prequel THE HOBBIT, I'm crossing the fingers for this getting done.

Del Toro is one of those few directors who put a watermark in all their movies: just look at the monsters, they're extremelly consistant. Particulary I love the angel of death, is completly delToresque: it have eyes all over his body except well... were eyes should be, in the head.

After the huge artistic succes for the uncrowned 'Pan's Labyrinth' ( damn Oscar!), Del Toro returns to his popcorn side with more budget and more freedom.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Tons of action, great FX and a good superhero movie. Del Toro is also the screenwriter, something he makes really good too. Hellboy is one of the heavyweight contenders for this summer.

They got my ticket! ;)
