Well, then there's this fucking movie.
Here's the deal;
A cute teenage girl discovers her sexuality and that she's every man's
nightmare at the same time. Fucking havoc ensues.
I'm going
to be as elliptical as possible here because I thnk the film is better
served by keeping the details of the central conceit under wraps.
Suffice it to say, the sweet, cute , innocent little cunt here is bad
news. And fucking how.
This is a horror film, but it's one
of those satirical horror flicks. Turns out, Dawn, the lead in
the film, is a Promise Keeper. One of those kids who swear before
God that they'll save themselves for marriage, meanwhile they're taking
anal creampies and swallowing Rod Stewart volumes of jizz. And she
means the shit until, of fucking course, she runs into one of those emo
kids with a hard-on. Thus, the first feelings of wanting to go
from full of the Lord to full of this kid's cock. Watching Dawn's
arch in this film is a hoot, and Jess Weixler gives it
the perfect tone. Having met many of these so-called Promise
Keepers in my time (I was propositioned by one broad), I can assure you
that her work is dead-on, which makes it all the more hysterical.
Now,
the story is pretty slight here. In fact, if you look at the
structure, it's more or less a slasher film. That said, it's got
a quick clock at eighty-eight minutes and once it gets into the meat of
the thing it takes care of business in fairly rapid order, as any good
slasher film fucking should. The body count isn't very
high, but what we get is made to have a fucking impact.
By
way of suggestion, if you're interested in this movie and know nothing
about it, don't go to the internet for a trailer or plot
details. This is one of those films where the less you know about
it going in the better. Trust me.
Get it and love it.
Save Yourselves,
'Nuff Sugar
I've seen this one too
I've seen this one too about a week ago and had been anticipating it for over a year when I last heard about it at Sundance. I was not let done. It was probably one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.Lived up
to all my expectations. Everything you could want from a movie about a
toothed vagina, its all in here!
Jess Weixler is the highlight of the film. The look on her face at the very end was priceless.
I think it's interesting that you thought of this as a slasher film. In this case, the slasher is the protagonist. I don't really care what kind of movie it was though cause I enjoyed the heck out of it.
Another current horror movie I saw recently was Them. That one, I thought was an extremely well made suspense film up until the very end.
Cool...
Nice review Mr. Norman. Lots of good details in this movie.
I loved the irony of those two nuclear power plant cooling towers in Teeth.
I am getting Inside tomorrow or L'interiour (the original title) from Netflix. The movie played at Cannes, interesting.
I have to differ in opinion
I have to differ in opinion here. My problem with Teeth was that I felt it didn't know what tone it wanted to be. At times it seemed to be a dark psychological thriller, at other times, a quirky satirical horor/comedy (there were the times I think it worked best).
The problem went back to the trailer, even. The trailer makes it out to be this disturbing, dark, complex, horror/drama....but judging from the clips (and the premise) I figured whoever cut the trailer was just trying to make it easier to sell. But that same confusion seemed to come across in the film.
Anyhow, just my two cents. The scenes with the doctors reattaching the "bits" were the best parts, I thought.
Never saw it as a
Never saw it as a psychological thriller at all. Don't recall it ever trying to be serious either. Everything going on in it brought out a laugh in me. With a movie premise like this ones, you know ahead of a time that the film is not meant to be taken seriously.
I understand the flaws that people critisized the movie for, but for me all those were real easy to overlook.
Watch the trailer and you'll
Watch the trailer and you'll see what I mean.
thriller????? did you see
thriller????? did you see the same movie I did. It is a black comedy about a pussy with teeth. the movie was fun and made me laugh every time she had a cock in her.
teeth trailer
And there you have it.
And there you have it. The trailer compares it to Fatal Attraction. "The stuff primal fears and nightmares are made of" The quick cutting and horror music....whoever made the preview obviously didn't know it was a comedy. And I felt the director had the same problem.
Pretty cool trailer. Sorry
Pretty cool trailer. Sorry but.... I still don't see the movie as a thriller, even after watching that.
Girl Watcher
I disagree. I think the director knew exactly what he was making and did a fine job with it. I think the marketing department
didn't know how to say pussy without saying pussy in the
ads. I can't point to any section of the film where the
tension wasn't undercut by something sick or funny. That's just
me, so what are you gonna do.
If it's just ridiculous, it's bad.
IF IT IS RRIIIDDDIICCUUULLOOUUSS, then it's okay.
