ON A DARK AND STORMY MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST!
"ON A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT", the original official title track for the film ON A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT by RACHEL LYNN is out baby! So here is the contest that will be officially announced by associate producer of the film, MARCO LEON---I am getting together to shoot the music video with bad ass shots of Rachel performing her song....in a very thunderous and stormy sequence. Then I will make available to all contestants the footage, and certain scenes from the film. THE CHALLENGE WILL BE THIS: Who ever decides to participate, will take what I shot with my team, with the selected shots from the film---AND MAY THE BEST EDITOR WIN! And the prize is, whoever wins--their video will be the official music video for ON A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT. MORE DETAILS FROM MARCO SOON TO COME! Marco will post the song along with the official announcement! Rachel Lynn will be the final word--the judge! Who's ready to get stormy? LAST THING. Rachel and I came up with the concept for this WAY BEFORE there was even a movie. It is something we have been talking about for almost two years. It just so happens that the song has the same title of the movie, which works out great! So, there can be two versions of the video, one without footage of the film in it, and another with no affiliation with the movie. You the contestants can decide.

I really love this website. I love all the members. Great people. I love our radio show. Great guests on our show. Always entertaining.
I love that this site started out almost as a personal website for all of us to share experiences, our films, the process of making our films from start to finish, and most of all THE FRIENDS WE ALL BECAME.
One example is this: Capitan Dracula made my little script HOUSE OF THE SMOKING GUNS into a cool flick. I never asked him to put the title "A SCRIPT BY EZEQUIEL". But he did. That was very kind of him. THERE ARE NO EGOS HERE. I'm just proud to be a friend of Captain Dracula and everyone else. And I know that we, as pirates, have fought haters, but it's just an online fight. Who really cares, right? Anyone can say anything they want on the internet, whether it is for fun, or a "real" fight. The difference is, that in real life, we here at KC are "doers", not talkers. We support. We make. We share. We support.
We weeded out the negative people. Weeded out the people with egos that want to destroy us and our ambitions. People who are unwilling to learn and listen. That's a good thing.
But here is something that I do have to express. Although I am here to support everyone in any which way possible, the one person I have my eye on is---
Captain Young Blood Brendan.
I think we will all be witness to a young talent and watch his career fluorish. Work hard Brendan. Don't stop.
I do have an apology to make. When the Sublim contest was going on, the first round judge was very rude to the contestants on the air. You can hear me laughing in the background, but it was only because I could not believe what this person was saying, it wasn't cause I was getting a kick out of it. At the time of that show presentation, we were all here, cast and crew for "Stormy Night". Everyone was listening and they were all appalled. I'm sorry for the insults. I had nothing to do with that, and I should have known better, but I didn't at the time. And the things that were said were completely unacceptable.
People in movies aren't really like that. They're tough, but not offensive. I apologize for that. Everyone should not be discouraged. Keep writing. Keep working. Keep the vision alive!
And so now, this brings us to the music video competition for Rachel's song, "On A Dark And Stormy Night"
I guarantee you that the judging for this contest will not be anything like that. And once more, there is no voting here. Rachel will choose the winner and that's it. I believe that all participants should be able to post their cuts, and of course members will be able to criticize each other and that it will be constructive, but at the end, it isn't up to me, or Marco or anyone else who wins.
I'll repeat this again too. If you go out and shoot images to go with it and you win, you will recieve a directors credit for the music video.

And by the way, the song was produced by one of the producers of Beyonce. Fun times! And Rachel wrote this song. I remember 4 months ago reading the lyrics and then she sang it for me, and then at my pool party, she picked up her guitar, sang and played and it was like WOW!

The goal is to make a commercially viable product, so if you want to use extra footage (I plan to!) make sure its royalty free, and you will need to provide documentation to prove it.
A safe bet is archive.org, which is where I got the footage for SEDATIVES, but also try creativecommons.org

This sounds fun. I would like to do this but I have a few thoughts.
One thing to consider is "use" of the footage.
Who own's the video when it is done? (mainly the ones that don't win).
Can the video be used in demo reels and websites outside of the film?
Is there going to be paperwork covering the legalese?

Since the footage is EZ it would be his footage and he owns all rights, BUTT you could use the footage to show editing stye by you, not directing, cuz that was EZ.
Those are just my thoughts.
TERMS OF EZEQUIEL
Whoever wins wins. Their "edit" will be dealt with accordingly. The winners work will be owned by myself and Rachel Lynn--but of course, the work will be seen by many people, and make it on the DVD. Good exposure.
For those that don't make the win, I think it would be ok to use on a reel. I would have to talk to Rachel about this part.
And one thing I forgot to mention----ONCE THE CONTEST KICKS OFF---everyone has exactly one week to complete the edit. If not, you will be disqualified.
AND BRAD, you can shoot extra stuff, there is nothing in the rules that would prohibit that. May the best cut win.

It's a very simple thing. If you cut the best cut, then you make the cut. So sharpen those claws and prepare for some slicing n' dicing!
I once more have to make it clear. IF YOU ARE STILL PART OF WANNABES, you will automatically be disqualified. And don't think we can't find out. Even if you win, and we find out that you're still a member of a part of people that tried to shit on me, you will be dishonored and disqualified.

The post from last night had spoilers in it, so I decided to take it down, I was trying to discuss the movie more than anything else.
I don't want to ruin the movie for people, that was not my intent, but any movie review is a "spoiler" to some degree.
The post from today was titled the same but the "spoiler" was completely made up. I made up a fake batman sequel nothing in the post would ruin the current movie for anyone (maybe one thing but it would be a stretch).
Also, I did not get your email for some reason. Maybe it's because I don't get internal emails from the site.
I never accused you of censorship, was just trying to find out why it was taken down. I still have the post but don't wan't to post it again unless it is okay.
Ironically, you can't read it because it may "ruin" the movie for you but you will not know that it wont till you see the movie.
After you see the movie, let me know, I will email you the post, and if you approve it I will post it again.
I hope we don't have to worry about talking about movies now.

Tell you what, feel free to post spoilers, fake or not, just as soon as the movie is off the theaters. I think that's a fair policy for everybody, not too unreasonable.
As for censorship, I was referring to the fact that when you sink down your own blog posts, all the comments in them that everybody had spent time on sink too. After a while, people will wise up and stop commenting. Anyway, its okay, like I said, deleting posts its allowed as long as they're never reposted.
