The Dreamtime

thought_arcade's picture

Hi everyone! I jus thought I'd post this. It's a rough edit (lots of it is still incomplete) from my latest film "The Dreamtime".

It's like Souvenirs, only completely different :)

Again, I stress this is NOT finished, and as usual it looks WAY better in HD then compressed on the web. I was trying to make a kinda cerebral psych-thriller with elements of horror. I always wanted it to be more of a drama than a horror per se.

The score is not yet finished, as are the opening titles, credits, etc. I was plagued by problems on this shoot (it was shot in 2 days.... actually a day and a half because we lost half a day given the previous soundstage user left all their sets intact and I had to take them apart).

Enjoy!

Very nice, but I think KC

Very nice, but I think KC does have some video s from viemo.

Reminds A LOT of asian horror movies... Once finished I think you'll have a bitch short! Nice job!

Vimeo is now an option!

I went ahead and got myself a Vimeo developer key, and KC can now interface directly using their API, so we can show thumbnails and video and everything, really cool! :)

Oohh!! Watched the first 50 seconds

Man, I watched the first 50 seconds of it, and I inmediatly hit pause because I KNEW I would love to see this in its complete form, and I just didn't want to spoil it for myself! It really looks so promising, very interesting, Rod Sterling-ish (from me, that's the highest compliment!) So I wanna see it, please post it when its done and I'll promote it to the front page!

Dude, you're as equally good

Dude, you're as equally good as Brad Anderson. This short is great. I've also seen Souvenirs and I think you need to make a feature in this supernatural thriller style. You've found your genre, keep with it!

Thanks for all the comments

Thanks for all the comments guys!

I should get around to finishing it up next week - I definitely wanted it to have a kind of asian-horror feel, but to be honest, my main influence was actually "Altered States" by Ken Russell.

As for seeing the machine, that's in the feature length version ;)

This short is going to be recut as a trailer to package with the feature-length script version which I'm hoping to sell/convince someone to let me direct (preferably the latter).

The feature length version is MUCH weirder and is barely a ghost story at all. It features more on individuals using the machine and is a much stranger film!

Nice.

Get "Souvenirs" on IMDB. So you are listed there as a director.
