Breaking News! Hollywood Fucksticks Rape Fans!!!!Read this shit, see if you can make heads or fuckin' tales of it. http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.co... I caught the trialer for Watchmen at the Alamao Drafthouse and I can tell you for fucking certain that this movie may not fit everybody, but it's gonna make plenty of fan-boy spooge flood the gutters. Oh, I'm sorry, it would have. I'm a good capitalist like anybody else, but I'll tell you, this shit right here makes me want pull my fuckin' hair out. Only one of two things goin' on here; Fox presses the issue after all the successful comic book movies (I don't think it has had one), or somebody at Warner forgot to look into the thing. Who pays, you might ask? Us. Even Shakepseare thought we should kill all the lawyers. So, I propose we block off Mahattan, mine the bridges, encamp police around it like an army, and let those ball-washing create their own fucking worlds. Who's with me?

Welcome to Hollywood
That's actually a quote from the article, specifically:
So Warner Bros asked the Court on the basis of those agreements to
dismiss Fox’s claims. Warner Bros also asserts that Fox abandoned any
interest it had in Watchmen in 1991 when it purportedly
quitclaimed its distribution rights to Gordon according to what the
court acknowledged was "a very complex, convoluted series of
negotiations and agreements". (Welcome to Hollywood, folks...)
Ouch.
So, from what I gather, The Beard (Mr. Alan Moore, the creator of the whole thing) was out of the picture just one year after his baby was born, in 1986. It's been out of his hands ever since, it seems FOX bought it, then quitclaimed it (word of the day!) then the quitclaim was itself kaput so now FOX thinks it never happened.
The one commentary I can make here is this: everybody in hollywood knows everybody. FOX knew that WB was spending millions on this project, and they just let'em. They just smiled and whistled while Snyder and co labored through it all, and they even let them brag at the comicon and make sure people like us were well aware the Watchmen are comin'. All that costs money, and now, FOX finally pounces. A dick move, to be sure, but smart. Because now WB is "pot comitted" and it can't just unspend everything it invested. Furthermore, there's reputations at stake already.
In the end, WB will do whatever is cheaper, which means settling with FOX. Thus FOX gets a load of money for a movie it didn't make.
It would seem like that makes them the winners, but there's a hidden factor in this equation: geek rage.
Why would FOX fear making a bunch of nerds angry? Well, nerds have more disposable income than nearly any other demo. They dont forget, and once the narrative is set that "FOX SUX", it'll cost a lot more money to change their minds. FOX, that I know, has not delivered any good movie on this genre yet. And after this, maybe they never will. Thats how the wheel of Karma spins, this might come back to them with their next comic movie. We'll see man. I wish we could all just get along, eh..
Selling Jesus
Fox has had at least two years to make any assertions it wanted to. And, assumig they did, Warner has had plenty of time to straighten this shit out, and yet nothing has happened. I got all fucking horny to see this after I caught the trailer. Now I'm just fucking pissed off at the whole ballgame. Who the fuck is at the wheel, man? Fuckin' Willy Wonka's runnin' the show.
If it's just ridiculous, it's bad.
IF IT IS RRIIIDDDIICCUUULLOOUUSS, then it's okay.
I'm sad to see this is still
I'm sad to see this is still going on. I could've sworn I thought I remember reading something where they finally made amends sometime during the beginning of production. Hopefully some crazy guy in a Rorsharch costume pays Fox a little visit.
Completely unrelated, but...
I found the website Rorschach would surely subscribe to:

Wow. He'd eat that up. I just thought it was interesting to share :)
LICK IT
It happens. it sucks. it blows. It will of course get resolved. They will not shelve a movie like this. What this means to me though, is that the movie rawks, and now there is a dispute of $$$!
EZEQUIEL
I propose...
...we leave Manhattan alone. Some of us have some very fond memories of the city that never sleeps. Hell, it was practically my home away from home when I was a kid. The island did nothing to hurt this moviefilm.
So am I reading this right? No Watchers unless WB ponies up a buncha greenbacks to FOX for nothing?
That sounds familiar. Hope they set the right prescedent.
