Reccomended Horror Films for Halloween
Who Can Kill a Child? - An english man and his pregnant wife take a vacation trip to Spain and hear about a nice little island off the coast that they decide to check out, only to find the whole entire town there to be deserted. They soon find out that the night prior to their arrival, all the children had simultaneously risen from their beds and brutally murdered all the adults. Now they must fend for themselves while faced with the question, 'Who Can Kill a Child?' This is probably one of the single creepiest atmospheres in a film I've ever seen, mind you I haven't seen Children of the Corn. This however pre-dates it by about 8 years, and also has a lot of similarites to Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.
The Burning - Another campire story style slasher film that some horror fans have argued is better than Friday the 13th. After a prank gone wrong, a former caretaker walks away with his life but is horibly disfigured and scared from his burns. He takes his revenge out on young teenage kids at near by summer camp with a pair of hedge clippers. Cast includes Jason Alexander back when he had hair, and also has Tom Savini on special effects. This was also the first of the Weinstein's movies.
Inside - If you still haven't seen this after bigsugar's review, then I do not know what the fuck you're waiting for. After a fatal car wreck that has left her a widow, a young pregnant woman is pursued by a manicial woman on Christmas eve with the intention of opening up her stomach with a pair of scissors, and taking the baby for herself.
[rec] - the movie that quarantine is a remake of. I know the American version just came out and some people would rather see that than have to bother with subtitles (why do people make such a big fuss over reading during a movie when films are meant to be a visual medium?), but I can give you one good reason why to see the original rather than the scene for scene remake: The lead actress in the Spanish version is about a zillion times more hotter and beautiful than the girl casted in the American version. If I was a rage infected zombie and had to choose between them, I'd rather drag the spanish girl across the floor to her death any day! Very intense movie too by the way! I've only seen the first half of Cloverfield, but I can say with confidence that this is a much better made movie!
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer -Probably one of the most original and smarter serial killer films I've ever seen. It goes beyond the slasher genre. The movie begins with Henry living his ordinary, everyday life. Walking into diners to buy coffee like any normal guy does in the morning. Only he leaves a trail of bodies in his wake where ever he goes. After his roommate Otis witnesses one of his killings, he decides take Otis out with him and shows him how to kill people till Otis developes a thirst for blood on his own. Otis's sister also developes an affection towards Henry which at times makes him seem sympathetic, Only at the end we are reminded that there is nothing romantic or epic when it comes to being a serial killer.
Martin - An unconventional vampire movie from George Romero that pre-dates Dawn of the Dead. Martin is a young guy who grows up believing that he is a vampire, only because his crazy and religous uncle says that he is. The movie shows how powerful beliefes can be over people's lives, no matter how rediculous they can be. Is Martin really a vampire? Or is it all a bunch of lies?

For those of you who have on Demand, Midnight Meat Train is now available to view in your own home before DVD release. Its a pretty cool flick, you guys should check it out.
If you happened to be trolling the vast expanses of the Hollywood Reporter
this morning, you might?ve noticed a little blurb somewhere about your
favorite horror V.O.D. Channel/Web Destination (ahem? I?m talking about
us, FEARnet, for those of you still sporting blank faces). The article
mentions a certain something about this favorite horror V.O.D.
Channel/Web Destination nabbing exclusive rights to bring fans a
certain movie adapted from Clive Barker?s Books of Blood?that may, or may not, be called Midnight Meat Train?that
they can view from the comfort of their own home. Well, now that the
beans are spilled, all we can say is? it?s absolutely 100% true!! Yes,
we?ve known for quite some time now that we?d be debuting Midnight Meat Train On
Demand for those of you who haven?t caught a screening of it yet, but
we wanted to wait for the perfect time to tell you. I suppose that time
is now. So? surprise!! MMT marks the second major movie event that we at FEARnet have taken part in after exclusively unveiling Catacombs
for you last year. So I guess the next logical question would be when
can you uncork the champagne and enjoy the blood and guts for the very
first time? Well we?ll have a premiere for the film on October
1st?hosted by Clive Barker himself!?followed by the web premiere on
October 30th, our network?s second anniversary. MMT was
produced by our partners at Lionsgate and directed by Ryuhei Kitamura.
The film (which stars Bradley Cooper, Vinnie Jones, Leslie Bibb, and
Roger Bart) follows a photographer as he develops a strange obsession
with stalking a brutal killer, through the New York Subway System where
he hacks up his victims one by one. So come for the Barker, and stay
for the gore?
