My Dream

thought_arcade's picture

I know most of us want to make movies. I have a very specific dream:

I would like to sell a few scripts to Hollywood. I'm getting there with my first one, it's looking more possible with each day that passes. But what next? Here is my dream:

I'd like to sell a few, for financial security and to gain a foothold. I'd really like for at least one to get made. If this were to happen, I'd then like to uproot myself, my dog and my girlfriend and move to Italy (I am an Canadian/Italian citizen). Using leverage from my scripts and produced film, I'd like to direct films in Italy - not just for the Italian market, but using Italy as a base. There is a well-developed film industry there and Italy has a history of supporting genre based films (the Giallos, Argento, etc). I would live half way between Siena and Milan, somewhere in the country. I'd have some sheep since my dog is part Border-Collie, which would keep her occupied. My Girlfriend would run an animal shelter, there are very few in Italy. I would make films in Europe, and return only to North America to make films if an interesting opportunity presented itself.

That... is my DREAM :) Laugh if you must :)

Its a beautiful dream...

I would never laugh my friend :)

many times, I've day-dreamed what would I do if I won the lotto, for instance :)

I would buy some warehouse, fit it with green-screens all over the place, have one or two robot cameras operated on cranes and dollies from the ceiling (you could control them with a joystick, or pre-program paths into them) and then make movies.... all the backgrounds of the movie 300 were green screen, (except the part with the horses, I guess they didnt want to bring them in the studio :) )

So there.. thats what I would do. Other areas of the studio would be for props and wardrobe (making of, and storage of), and a little office on top. And then, next door, my house. not a mansion, just big enough for my kids, thats all.

And thats it... financing my own films... having talented people on the payroll... making digital films with digital backgrounds like Sin City and such... yup. That's my dream.
