001 - A Journal Section From My New Trip

STEWIE Mach II's picture

As you know, the website is up

http://walkingwithfreedom.com and you will be able to see clips in a week or two, but for now you will have to deal with journals and hopefully some photos in the next week.

Its Hot as fuck.

have to add some things I left out of the last Journal entry.
Funkee and I walked down to the beach, after being lucky enough to get the key to open a locked gate to the bunker where the ADT starts (And then oversleeping till it was open anyway) and we got some early shots of the sun shining around a cloud and reflecting off the water...very nice.

As I recorded the sun and surf, two dolphins begin coming up for air in front of us...absolutely amazing and I was so glad to be there at that moment...sorta let me know it was all going to be okay.

So we watched the dolphins play, emptied the sand out of our shoes and made our way to a nice breakfeast in Rhohobean beach diner...good food.
We returned to Camp Cape Henlopen as Jester, Ron and Laura were all waking and prepping to leave...Sorta sad to see everyone leaving, but i was glad to be going.

As I stated in yesterdays journal..it was a SHORT day, the heat got to about 95 before I even got 3 miles, so I stopped...it may have been the 'kickoff' party as much as it was the heat that broke me down...probalby equal parts, so you know the score for that short non productive day.

So, on the 18th, I arose with plans of big miles...sweet big miles. I begin the walk and stop in at a Museum that is closed, it is about the First Dutch settlemet "The Valley Of The Swans" (Zwanandeal???--spelling error I am sure) that was there that dissappeared back in the day. But as I said, it was closed, so my knowledge and information on the facts is about what Is written in the ADT turn by turn guide. Guess I can read up on it later.

I walk on, have a great breakfeast, have a couple of people wave and honk...in a good way too...and make my way through the HOT day. Reached 98 I think is what I heard, and it was ripping me a new one to be honest, I dont work well in heat, but hey...
So as I ,make my way toward Nassua road, I see two guys and their dad washing a boat, I wave, they wave...then they call me over.

I go say hello, they offer up juice, water, a cold sink spitting water at high velocity that I soak my head under and squirm with the pleasure of the heat leaving my body. I chat with them for a while, and get my first Filming of a true American giving an opinion, which is what I am after out here. Too see this Country and to listen and show others what we all know.

We want more and we care more, and by the grace of God, the people will speak their minds on America and what is going on with them in it.
They offer me lunch, a place to stay for the night. I greatfully turn them all down and say thank you, as it is really early...I hate myself for that as they were on the way out to the Bay to go fishing, and that would have been awesome.

I wander on, sweating like a pig with sweat glands, thinking about how nice the ocean breeze would have felt as I spent that fine gentlemens dollar on a cold beer while i pulled up a big old Tuna...man...next time.

A Mini Van packed with kids and a lady go by me..."YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!" She yells...or at least I hope that is what she yelled...I continue to walk and sweat...
I get to the "Good FOr You" Natural Farmers Market stand....I am dying for cold fresh fruit. They only have frozen grapes at like $9 a bag...Im not nine dollars worth of hungry, so I grab a Golden Del Apple, a Vitamen water and some cushion on the porch in the shade..and its still steaming hot out here, but the Apple is divine.

A Blue Mini Van pulls up...its the lady and her kids! They all get out and walk toward me, they each carry a gift...Little Ethan(4) brings me a Brownie in a cereal bowl, Cyrus(6) brings me a container of COLD GRAPES and black berries! (SO I got my grapes!!! yeeehaw!), and Lydia(9---Sorry if thats the wrong age Lydia) brings me an Orange citrus drink..and their Mom Serinda, sits and talks with me, and invites me to their home, which is about 5 trail miles from here.

It means I will have to stop earlier then I thought i would, but man...its hot, so I gladly except...they way I see it, if you get invited to TWO different strangers homes on the same day, you better BLEEP well say "Thank you yes!" to the second one..so I did.

I continue my heat induced death march and when I am within about 2 miles of their home, yet ANOTHER stranger stops their vehicle and hands me a ICY COLD WATER! AHHHHHHHHHHH! How amazing is this? I love Delaware! These people rock!

Serinda left for work before I got their, and her husband Reese--a School teacher, greets me at the door. He is friendly and a welcoming host, considering that his wife invited a burly stranger into their home without him knowing..lol.

Ethan, Cyrus and I talk all after noon between conversation with Reese....later we all load up in the Mini Van and hit a local Pizzaeria, Reese treats us...man, it is good...then we hit the Beach Boardwalk and listen to the sounds of Funland, pinball, people laughing and walking, crowds..lots of crowds under this clear sky, the smell of beach, french fries and cotton candy carry through the air with laughs and screams of the under 18 set that live it up here tonight.

We hit a ice cream stand and make it back to their home. Great folks and I am blessed to have such a neat experiance.

Tomorrow...I hike further...to whereever.

Lil Updates on the Walking with Freedom section

 Stewie! :)

As you can see, I created two subsections for Walking with Freedom, Clips and Journals. I'll put all your clips under Clips, and all blog entries like this one that have to do with your project, under Journals. Feel free to blog about anything, dont worry, I'll only put here the ones that are related to your project. Also, it would help if you put a number in the title, for instance, this is "001" that keeps them in order in the navigation bar that appears in the top-right corner.

Btw, and I should have said this first: I really enjoyed reading this entry. You  have a way of transporting the reader to the location, it made me remembered long ago when I saw the sun rise on the beach, it was beautiful.

Keep'em coming man! :) Also, if you have any text you'd rather use in the Clips or Journals main page, just tell me and I'll replace it, same for images, links, anything you need.

Kewl :)
