Dereks don't run, motherfuckers!!!!

Here's the deal; a
corporate contigent of aliens have landed in a small New Zealand town
and have sliced and diced all the inhabitants thereof, propmting the
government to send in a crew of fuck-ups to deal with the
situation.  Sick, sick, gory-assed mayhem ensues.

Ahhh, 1986.  What a year.  My friends had discovered the
merits of Family Sized bottles of Robitussin (ROBO), and huffing butane
(I came late those parties), and I discovered The Thunder From Down
Under: AC/DC.  And once again, the whole world shifted for me.

Remember New Coke?  How about Crystal Pepsi?  Well, this flick is kinda like those bad corporate ideas.

Here's
the deal; a rather pissed-off bitch of an alien called The Beast is
tooling around the stars looking for planets to "enslave" when he runs
across a system called Krull.  Swords vs. laser adventure ensues.

"Detective, other than confessing to murder, is there a point to this conversation?"

Fred Dekker fans are split basically into two camps; those who love The Monster Squad, and those who love Night of the Creeps. I belong to the latter group.

Fuck remakes, right?

I dare not guess how many times this story has been made, I only know I've already seen two other versions. Price's "The Last Man on Earth", and Heston's "The Omega Man". So, I knew the general story, but was eager for the new, modern presentation. I'm always a sucker for post-apocalyptic movies. Even if they look rather Hollywood.

Cloverfield seems kinda like a no brainer. Take the Blair Witch Style and attach it to a Summer Blockbuster type of film. Well,l I suppose it is a compositer's nightmare, what with so much CG carnage while the camera is bobbing and shaking all over the place. However, all that hard work paid off....Cloverfield is likely the best January movie you'll ever see!

This is the first feature at Sundance I saw today and so far so good. This is a Spanish Sci-Fi/Crime Thriller involving time travel that would best be described as Memento meets Back to the Future.

Before the travesty that was Alien vs. Predator came out, it was being panned for it's PG-13 rating. Fans were horrified. All 4 Alien movies and both Predator movies were R. Why would the cross-over be PG-13?! Well, as it turned out, that was the least of the problems with AvP.
