Finally, ATW: Bloodline is Online for Viewing in Full

Anyone who wasn't able to check out the movie from our downloadable iPod version can now check out the movie on IMDB. Jerod got an invitation from Without A Box to post the movie on IMDB and so we did. Just hit the IMDB website and do a search for A Thousand Words: Bloodline, hit the link and it's at the top of the page for the movie. Or you should just be able to hit this link here:

http://www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi2652241945/.

So far I've not had anyone have a problem watching this but for one person using Firefox and probably not having the latest version of flash installed. Oh, and it seems they don't have an embed function (which isn't surprising) so I can't post it here.

Tempered Zealot Productions Interview on Indie FLIX

We recently did an interview on a show called Indie FLIX with Dan Monroe. The show is airing this month on Cox Cable On Demand along with all of our movies.

If you're interested check out the interview on our website at:

http://www.temperedzealot.com

The video works fine in IE but for some reason not in Firefox. After researching it I think it has something to do with the updated version (9) of the Flash player for Firefox.

Gorgeous Vimeo now available!

Just a small update, thanks to Captain Xarach and the Very Talented Mr. Barnett, we've discovered the joys of Vimeo, a provider so nice it gives you HD.

Vimeo is now added as an official video provider for KC, (I got a developer's API key and everything) and we should be able to see thumbnails for it and the whole gig. Very nice. Just enter the URL for your Vimeo flick, no need to copy paste the entire embed code, and it should work, give it a try!

That's all, enjoy the rest of your day, I only stole 30 seconds of it! :)

New Interview on Dead Harvey

Thanks to
Brad over at Dead Harvey for doing an interview with Jerod and myself.
He posted a brief entry about us and then a link to the interview in
PDF format. Though the bulk of the interview covers A Thousand Words: Bloodline, We're hopeing that it also helps to promote the new movie which we'll be shooting in August. Right now, things are on track for that so it's all good. He also put in the Myspace site for the new movie instead of the site for the Bloodline movie, but that's cool because it will help drive traffic to us hopefully. Anyway, enjoy my long wordy answer goodness along with Jerod's short sweet answer topping.

Thanks for the support!

Video Phone Call

This is the film I talked about in Agam Darshi's radio show episode.

Its one of the nicest experiences I have yet had as a screenwriter, to see the words I typed merely hours ago, being read (and liked!) by a pro the same night (Riedinger).

And he recruited his girlfriend, Agam Darshi, to film the final thing, which I humbly present to you here.

Directed (over the phone, no less!) by EZ-Peasy.

Tempered Zealot Productions New Horror/Thriller

This isn't as much of a casting notice for this site as it is just me being happy to be back in the saddle off on a new adventure. It's been a while since I sat in the head chair on a project and the last time went really well and has been one heck of a roller coaster ride. I'm extremely excited to move into something new. Being part of Tempered Zealot's 'Dream Thirteen' project was cool, it gave me something to do and I got to direct and do nothing else which was nice. But I really want to get back into making stories that I have a deep connection to and try to show the world that you can make horror/thriller movies that are driven by story and character relationship developement.

Another thing I'll enjoy with this is getting back into the promotion aspect of getting the word out that we are doing something, and then pushing it out to every place we can get some attention for it.

There are definite challenges along the way and I've already encountered a couple big ones. It's cool though, I stressed out about it for a day and now I'm ready to put my feet forward and press on. It won't be a smooth ride but it should be fun when it's all said and done. I'm looking to keep up and improve on the production quality we've delivered previously. I want to really deliver on all fronts, not just with the movie but with the hype as well. I've begun work on a myspace page and an official movie page. I have a teaser poster all done up and I'll be working on graphic ads and banners to help promote the movie.

I'm just really ready to do something else. I've been working on group stuff and community stuff and other people's stuff for the past year and I'm totally in need of some me time. With the new relationships I've cultivated locally and online I'm hoping to get a lot of support for the project and I'd really like to get some outside involvement in a few aspects of the production. This of course comes with experience that you just want to "up your game" each time out and you hope beyond hope that the people you have met will help out even in the smallest way.

This project means a lot to me and I can't express enough how much I just want to get going and not have those little road bumps along the way. The stress from just the first round of those really got to me and that was bad. I should know better, but I guess I've been idle too long from my own work that it just took a minute for me to remember that it's the story that is important and not the things that don't go well like people you want to cast not being available or locations not coming through. In the end if I press on it will all work out.

At the same time I'm scared because I want it to be better than my last project in every way, but I'm unsure if I can pull it off again since the last project was really freakin' good. I just need to get the right people in the right places. It's like playing a high stakes chess game and you can't really settle for less than a win.

Anyway, if anyone is interested full info is available on our site http://www.temperedzealot.com

The new official page is at http://www.temperedzealot.com/films/...

Not done messing with the stupid myspace page but when I get it done I'll pass the link around.

And yeah, there's not much info out there yet because I'm doing my thing where I "pull an Abrams" with the movie info.

Peace out my KC friends!

Still Working It

That's right, we're still working our movie 'A Thousand Words: Bloodline'. We just found out the movie is an official selection in the IUSB IVFF (Indiana University South Bend International Video & Film Festival).

This is very cool because this will be our third consecutive year getting something into this festival. We previously screened 'Support an Indie Filmmaker' in 2006 and 'Over Coffee' in 2007.

The film festival website is http://www.rpstudios.net/ivff/ivff08.html

Love Like Blood

Here is a little tidbit.

The first DV feature I shot (as Cinematographer.)

Love Like Blood" Screening
at New York International Independent Film & Video Festival

http://app.e2ma.net/app/view:CampaignPublic/id:18774.963729794/rid:eb2ff6616bcd20fdfc114dcebee540cf

It appears to be the closing night film. Not bad for three straight weeks of shooting (plus a year of weekend pick-ups) Oh the horrors of indie shoots. Some really good stories there. It was fun, frustrating, and painful at times, but Worked out well, and looks pretty good.

You can check out the web site.

Our Movie on Count Gore De Vol's Show

Hey, some super cool news for everyone involved in A Thousand Words: Bloodline. I found out this morning that the movie was picked up by Count Gore De Vol for his internet showcase. For all those who have not gotten a chance to see the movie, for a time you can check it out online at http://www.countgore.com/NewBlood.ht... including intro and wrap-up by Count Gore himself. By the things he wrote on the site and in the bookend segments he did, he really liked it.

So please, if you haven't checked out the movie this is your chance. I'm not sure how long it will be up but I'm pretty sure it's only for a limited time. Head over to the Count's website and take a peek at the show!

This is probably the only time this movie will be online unless we trip into another cool situation like this.

Cloverfield

Cloverfield seems kinda like a no brainer. Take the Blair Witch Style and attach it to a Summer Blockbuster type of film. Well,l I suppose it is a compositer's nightmare, what with so much CG carnage while the camera is bobbing and shaking all over the place. However, all that hard work paid off....Cloverfield is likely the best January movie you'll ever see! (and before you start offering exceptions, make sure you're not thinking of a movie that was technically released in Dec. and only widely released in Jan.)

So first of all, the effects are spot on. It totally feels like you're just watching footage from this camcorder...I'm super critical of CGI, but everything looked real in this movie.

Secondly, it's scary as all hell! You know disaster is looming around every corner, and you care just enough for these characters to hope that somehow they'll be able to avoid it. Sometimes they do...sometimes they don't. And then there's a scene a subway tunnel....that's all I'm saying. But let me just say it was the best use of scaring the audience through a camcorder's use of nightvision I've ever seen...and that trick has been used quite a bit lately. I screamed like a wee girl at one point there.

The movie is a giant monster movie, like we're all familiar with, but from such a vastly different perspective. To steal a bit from another review I read, you know that somewhere there's a general with a cigar in his mouth, yelling at his troops to find a way to kill this thing. You know there's an ace fighter pilot who just proposed to his girlfriend. You know there's a president, wondering whether to nuke or not. You know there's a journalist, trying to get close enough to get the story, and that there's a scientist on the brink of finding the creature weakness. But the camera never ventures anywhere near these characters. We're traveling along with the extras you see running beneath the monster's feet yelling "Godzilla!" (no, it's not Godzilla...it's...something else. Something scary and awesome looking. That's the best I can do).

And then there's the cunning use of flashbacks in the movie...sort of. I wasn't expecting this bit, but it was very effective...that's all I'll say about that.

The best way to describe this movie is a "monster simulator" You know those big boxes you can get into at malls that move around on hydrolics and you fly a space ship, or ride a roller coaster, or travel through a volcano....well it's like that for a monster attack. And that is awesome!!

Sure you have to apply a little suspension of disbelief...there's a number of points throughout the movie (that subway scene especially) when Gus (our faithful cameraman) would have left the camera behind. And sure, maybe he wants to get all the money monster shots, but would he really be filming just enough intimate scenes with his friends to create an effective story arc for each? But, if he didn't, we wouldn't have a movie, so that's all it takes for me. Plus the character is just quirky enough, I can believe...sort of.

And I'll just finish up by if you did enjoy the movie and wanted more (like I did...look, there's no scientist or general, so you're not going to get a whole lot of exposition)...look up some of the viral marketing for this movie. You can learn alot more about the characters and the mysterious soft drink known as "slusho".
