If you love Harry Potter, you will find this hillarious. And if you're like me, and don't care for Harry Potter either way, you'll find this EVEN MORE hilarious. Why waste words when you can bask in the genius that is the redub below: "WIZARD PEOPLE, DEAR READERS". I've only posted the few first episodes, but I know you'll be hooked and watch the rest.

The downside of being a filmmaker

So, having just gotten yet another one, I'd thought I'd ask people what they thought.

I have just gotten another beautiful, black piece of wood that looks kind of like a slate, with clapper sticks as well.

Yippeeee.

I mean it is cute the first time, but it gets silly. "Gee I thought of you." "Oh, maybe next time you can use this, and it will help you make a better film." etc. etc.

I mean, it is really nice that someone saw this and thought of me, and I am touched by the thought.

I have to stop from laughing though. It would be good if I could at least use them, but it is the age of the dry erase plexi slate, not the chalk board slate. I did once work with a crew from Russia shooting in the states. They had a Chalk clapboard with a handle and a trigger to make the clap, which was neat. This was a long time ago, I gave them a plexi slate and some dry erase markers. Got to join the 21st century at some point.

So I've got another of these little black slates, although this is a really large one. I did explain that nowadays we use the frosted/opal plexiglass slates. I guess Universal studios doesn't sell those in the suvenier shops.

It is cute, and sweet, and I hope I made the gift giver feel good, I appreciate the thought.

What other film related gifts are people getting?

He's So Dead!!

This is our short film He's So Dead!!. Shot on a budget of less than $400 and in two days. It was an amazing and fun weekend for all of us involved and proved what talent can pull off.

When Mark and Paul make an amazing discovery behind the old dump they gain the chance to improve their popularity in the neighbourhood but with deadly results!!

Some fun things to do while watching Lord of the Rings

If you're like me, and you thought the Lord of the Rings snoozfest sucked sweaty balls, then this list will help for those horrendous times your so-called "friends" force you into a screening. If you actually liked LOTR, well, not even a lobotomy will help you.

So, courtesy of the lovely KT over at mySpace, here are...

Some fun things to do while watching Lord of the Rings

(by the way, #6 is my fave)

Even though it's not in the movie theatres anymore... play at home with a bunch of friends! YAY!

1. Stand up halfway through the movie and yell loudly, "Wait...where the
hell is Harry Potter?"

2. Block the entrance to the theater while screaming, "YOU.....
SHALL.... NOT..... PASS!"

3. Play a drinking game where you have to take a sip every time someone
says, "the Ring."

4. Point and laugh whenever someone dies.

5. Ask everyone around you if they think Gandalf went to Hogwarts.

6. Finish off every one of Elrond's lines with "Mister Ander- son."

7. When Aragorn is crowned king, stand up and at the top of your lungs
sing, "And I did it.... MY way...!"

8. Talk like Gollum all through the movie. At the end, bite off
someone's finger and fall down the stairs.

9. Dress up as old ladies and re-enact "The Battle of Helms Deep," Monty
Python style.

10. When Denethor lights the fire, shout "Barbecue!"

11. When the Ents decide to march to war, stand up and shout, "RUN
FOREST, RUN!"

12. Every time someone kills an Orc, yell: "That's what I'm Tolkien
about!" See how long it takes before you get kicked out of the theatre.

13. During a wide shot of a battle, inquire, "Where's Waldo?"

14. Talk loudly about how you heard that there is a single frame of a
nude Elf hidden somewhere in the movie.

15. Start an Orc sing-a-long.

16. Come to the premiere dressed as Frankenfurter and wander around
looking terribly confused.

17. When they go in the paths of the dead, wait for a tense moment and
shout, "I see dead people!"

18. Imitate what you think a conversation between Gollum, Dobby and Yoda
would be like.

19. Release a jar of daddy-long-legs into the theater during the Shelob scene.

20. Wonder out loud if Aragorn is going to run for governor of California.

21. When Shelob comes on, exclaim, "Man! Charlotte's really let herself go!"

22. As Frodo is standing, hesitating to drop the ring, yell 'Get on with it!'

23. When the armies attack the massive elephant creatures, start griping
loudly about how it's a blatant rip-off of Star Wars and the battle with
the walkers on Endor.

24. Insist you can spot William Wallace in the scene right before the
final battle charge.

25. Insist Gandalf is played by Jean Luc Picard, who has no real magic,
just some decent melee skills, and incredible futuristic knowledge of
how everything seems to work.

Scott the Intern

Every Thanksgiving here in Stanstead, filmmaker Bachar Chbib allows us to shoot a short film (around 1minute) we have an hour to shoot and then cut before midnight. THere were eight films this year, all of them comedies. I chose to do a short documentary insight into the mind of our intern DP from Washington DC, Scott de Lange. A sweet guy with a one track mind, always giving us a good chuckle. THIS GUY IS FOR REAL, can you believe that?

Plant: Reckoning

The Second in the trilogy about a crime fighting plant and his partner as they do battle with the scum of Fairbanksville, and try to capture the mysterious Dr. Commissioner. Admittedly not our best work. But it sets up a series of jokes for the third movie, which is much MUCH better. Besides, there's a feww good laughs in this one.

As most of you guys know, we here at KarmaCritic have a debt of gratitude to Harry Knowles of AintItCoolNews for having carried our story about the the demise of OTL and the birth of KC and SUBLIM. Many cool people here today heard of us in the pages of AICN.

Well, Harry got married. And the following video is hillarious, these are the figures WETA works (yup, from LOTR fame) made for him, for his wedding. When you got WETA making you into a figurine of Jabba the Hut with your wife as slave-girl Leia, you know you have made it.

Enjoy good people!

Paying respets to Ingmar Bergman

They say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Problem with that, is there is no more room for parody, which I believe is an even GREATER form of flattery.

What an honor it would be, to 1) have a style so recognizable 2) have themes and "memes" so recognizable and 3) talented fans so well versed in 1 and 2, that they would actually make a parody of your best films?

As you probably know by now, Ingmar Bergman has gone to play one last chess game with Death last week, and I found the following while trolling around the interwebs:
The Dove: This short film is a parody of some of Ingmar Bergman's best known films, including Wild Strawberries (Smultronstaellet) and The Seventh Seal (Det Sjunde Inseglet). The dialog, seemingly in Swedish, is actually a Swedish-accented fictional language based on English, German, Latin, and Swedish, with most nouns ending in "ska". The principal character, Professor Viktor Sundqvist, 76, is being driven to a lecture at the university, when dove droppings splatter the car's windshield. Detouring at his uncle's old house, his mind wanders back to his youth, when Death came to a family picnic to claim his sister, Inga. Knowing that Death is a gambler, Viktor has Inga challenge Death to a single-point game of badminton for her life.
De Düva: The Dove, aka The Dove, (1968): directed by George Coe and Anthony Lover, starred by Pamela Burrell, George Coe, Sid Davis, Madeline Kahn, Stan Rubinstein and Tom Stone. Enjoy. If you know Ingmar Bergman, chances are you're about to crack up laughing:
