Finally, ATW: Bloodline is Online for Viewing in Full

Anyone who wasn't able to check out the movie from our downloadable iPod version can now check out the movie on IMDB. Jerod got an invitation from Without A Box to post the movie on IMDB and so we did. Just hit the IMDB website and do a search for A Thousand Words: Bloodline, hit the link and it's at the top of the page for the movie. Or you should just be able to hit this link here:

http://www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi2652241945/.

So far I've not had anyone have a problem watching this but for one person using Firefox and probably not having the latest version of flash installed. Oh, and it seems they don't have an embed function (which isn't surprising) so I can't post it here.

This way to Necrotopia

Hey guys.

I want you to see what we've been working at for the past... oh, I dunno, how many months has it been, EZ? At least 6. A lot. A long time.

It takes a while to find a place in the vast fog of imagination, stick your hand in it, fish for and grab stuff, compact it into a little ball and yank it back out into our realm of reality. So far, we've yanked a website, a 16-page full color comic book, two teaser videos, nine character bios, a little brochure describing the world (a "feelie" in the purest Alan Moore style), a 96-page graphic novel script, a wiki-style framework for keeping my shit straight when I write in the future, forums, and... I'm probably forgetting stuff.

But I'm very proud to show this to you guys. Everything I described above is here, except for the 96-page script, and one of the two videos (I may post it later here in KC). Please give it a whirl, and let me know if anything seems broken:

http://www.theunnaturals.com

Thanks so much for beta-testing this, guys, I understand our producer is showing this to some pretty high-up people right about now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Robert Lawrence is a GOOD producer to have, people.

I want to give a huge thank you to Hector, who made the beautiful artwork you're about to see. He has been my best friend since childhood... I'm lucky to be able to say that, specially to be able to say that about him. He and I are going to do a lot of stuff together in the future, Xenu-willing.

And of course, thanks to Ezequiel. He opened the door for me, all I had to do was be serious about my ambition, and I am, and he opened the door. EZ, this would have never gotten this far without you man. I also hope to be doing a lot of stuff with you in the future, Xenu or not.

Alright. Have fun everybody, hope you like this.

Tropic Thunder

Ben Stiller hits the cinematic trifecta as co-writer, co-producer, director and star of Tropic Thunder; a film that is laugh out loud funny, creative, beautifully shot and features perhaps the most impressive supporting cast in recent memory. It's not as star-laden as say, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (not even close), but the performances are memorable. Combine that with a plethora of hilarious one-liners, and Tropic Thunder delivers an instant classic. That's huge praise considering I'm not as easy to please at the movie-going experience as most people.

The film opens with three mock trailers introducing our main players (Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey, Jr.). They are, respectively, the hottest action star, comedy star and Oscar-winner in Hollywood, and they're teaming up to shoot Tropic Thunder, the most realistic, big budgeted, blow em up war flick, ever. On location in Viet Nam, the production is a mess as the crew face problem after problem, and the chemistry between these superb thespians, in a manner of speaking, just ain't there.

The director (Steve Coogan) is taking the brunt of the blame from the executive producer (Tom Cruise. Yes, the Tom Cruise. Who is, for the first time in my opinion, absolutely brilliant!) So the director, under advice from the author of the book that inspired this film (Nick Nolte!) decides that dropping his cast into authentic harm's way will produce the chemistry he needs. Stupid? Yes. Would that really happen? No f*cking way. But luckily for us, it happens here, for what follows is a string of hilarious mayhem and calamity that never grows tiresome.

The mix of Stiller, Black and Downey is effectively divided up, as each are able to showcase their particular talents evenly and effectively. Jack Black is the standard Jack Black, raised to the power of ten, rather than diluted as he was in Nacho Libre. Robert Downey, Jr. could not have hoped for a better follow-up to Iron Man, as he has done the equivalent of hitting two grand slam home runs in a row. Of course, there's Stiller who proves he can be brilliant both behind and in front of the camera, and Thunder is a refreshing break from his recent string of turds (ie: The Heartbreak Kid, Night at the Museum).

The trio is directly supported by Jay Baruchel and Brandon T. Jackson (as the other actors in this movie within a movie), Danny McBride (as the special fx guy) and Steve Coogan as the film's director. Throw in the support of Cruise, Nolte and Matthew McConaughy, and pepper in cameos from Tyra Banks, Jon Voight, Tobey Mcguire and others of their ilk, and you've got yourself one pretty enjoyable film.

Don't wait to rent this. Tropic Thunder should be experienced on the big screen. We, as audience members, owe the price of admission to a film that truly entertains at this level.

Consider the suggestion that Tobey McGuire and Robert Downey, Jr. play a pair of homosexual monks that use the rosary as anal beads in a film entitled Satan's Alley. Nuff said.

New Interview on Dead Harvey

Thanks to
Brad over at Dead Harvey for doing an interview with Jerod and myself.
He posted a brief entry about us and then a link to the interview in
PDF format. Though the bulk of the interview covers A Thousand Words: Bloodline, We're hopeing that it also helps to promote the new movie which we'll be shooting in August. Right now, things are on track for that so it's all good. He also put in the Myspace site for the new movie instead of the site for the Bloodline movie, but that's cool because it will help drive traffic to us hopefully. Anyway, enjoy my long wordy answer goodness along with Jerod's short sweet answer topping.

A new project: BLACK FANTOM

Hector gave me green light to brag about this, so brag I will!

After our first project together FURIA, which is doing really well (but I'll let Hector share those news, he deserves the right to brag about those), we got started on a second project, which will likely be financed the same way, but this is not animation, but Live Action.

Its a wrestlers movie :)

In Mexico, masked wrestlers are what cowboys represent in the US, or kung fu masters in Hong Kong. There's a whole genre of masked wrestlers being champions of the people, superheroes, always defeating some nefarious plot. The movies are CHEESY as hell, but people love them just like that. And Hector and I have decided to create a movie that pays homage to the whole genre, just like KILL BILL was Tarantino's ode to the Hong Kong martial arts flicks.

Our movie is called BLACK FANTOM VS THE DEVOURER OF WORLDS.

Actually, I'm just the humble writer, Hector, as with FURIA, is the real engine moving this project from the realm of dreams and ideas, into the realm of business deals and contracts and money and getting things made. But he and I enjoyed a long evening of brainstoming dreams and ideas back in Mexico, and we'd like to share some of the artwork inspired so far.

Without further Ado, a sneak peak at some of the concept art for BLACK FANTOM:

Making Progress - Production Update and More

This is a good day, a very good day.

The pre-production meeting I had Sunday went well
enough. We got to work with the actors on wardrobe, FX, and some other
important details. We made some more changes to the screenplay which
should pump up the tension a bit and lead to a final shooting script!

Today was even better for me in a way because I finally secured the bulk of the budget and was able to purchase the HARPER'S UNION COLLEGE GEAR
for the movie. We will have some clothing show up as well as items like
clocks, mugs, books, bags, etc. Little details like that will really
make the movie better. People who would like a piece of the movie can
purchase these props too: http://www.cafepress.com/revelationmovie

Having
worked out the things we did with the principle cast makes me feel a
lot more at ease. We still have a couple things to iron out but that
will take time as the make-up crew gets put together and works out the
FX needed and how to pull them off. We have to follow that up with
working with the FX people and the actors to make sure everyone is
comfortable and safe.

We have pretty much all the props needed
for the movie from things purchased from previous movies and other
things we've collected over time. This will really cut down on the
budget. We'll still have a couple items to pick up like axes to grind
down and other little things to pull off some of the shots and the FX
stuff. The more I save on budget though, the more I find myself
changing where the freed up money will go.

Anyway, I think we
are all pretty pleased with how things are going at this point. We're
just over a month away from the production and I think we're on track
for being prepared. The only things standing out right now are a couple
locations which won't be hard to lock down and the Art Director needs
to see the main locations that she'll be working with.

Also,
things are going well moving into the COLUMBUS INDIECLUB SUMMER
GATHERING on SUNDAY JULY 13TH from 10AM - 4PM. I'm hoping to see a lot
of people there, this year there are some very cool things going on
like a little activity working with actual film stock and film cameras
generously brought to us by Sean McHenry. There's lots to do and it's a
family friendly event and you can bring pets - THEY MUST BE ON A LEASH!!! Also, unfortunately ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL. Other than that bring yourself a picnic or something to grill and live it up with some cool people.

The
Mid-Ohio Comic Con Film Festival thing is going well. We have a real
and true local celebrity judge for the event and I'm hoping to lock
down a couple more here by tomorrow. I have a good team of people
helping to volunteer for working the event and managing the IndieClub
booth.

Things
are going well again so I'm in a much better place. Still dealing with
personal stuff with family so that's a little rough but I'm dealing and
time kind of got me used to how things are at the moment. There's not
anything I can do to change how things are and I need to just trust in
God that it's all going to work out the way it's supposed to.

Till next update,

J.

Tonight on KarmaRadio: Movie News

Robert McKee says creativity is born out of limitation and restriction. Tonight our restriction is a having no guest. Creativity two weeks ago was to turn it into movie-review night, and it turned out great! Creativity tonight is to make a panel about movie news. Lets see how it turns out! It depends on you all, loyal karmapirates, to call in and make the usual chaos we love so much :)

So tonight is Movie News night. Its really simple, (and a lot of talk-shows do this every day) we just take one news item at a time and comment on it, pirate style.

Tonights topics come from http://news.google.com/?topic=e and there are:

Tonight is Movie Critique Night, on KARMARADIO

People, tonight is all about reviewing movies!

Here's the lineup:

BigSugar - SPARTAN

FableForge - IRONMAN

Ezequiel - 30 DAYS OF NIGHT

BigSugar - MAXIMUN OVERDRIVE

Ezequiel - CLOVERFIELD

BigSugar - DARIUS GOES WEST

And then, like so many seeds to the pigeons, our work goes in the chopping block too, everyone is welcome to call in and critique:

EZ's RULES OF TEMPTATION (parts 1 and 2)

FableForge's CAMERA GUY

Meredith's LURE

SonnyBoo's UNCLE PETE'S PLAY TIME (any episode!)

Captain Peceno's NATALIE

Honestly, I dont think we'll have enough time to go through it all, so first come first served, and when I say "served", I mean it like

"YO' ASS GOTZ SERVED, DAWG!!"

Be there! 347.215.8713

P.S. If you don't want your movie reviewed... you shouldn't have posted it :) But if you REALLY dont want it reviewed on the radio, post here and we'll take it out.

UPDATE: Just Fresh Off The Oven: GETTING A HEAD IN THE BUSINESS by Pirate Captain CPPARKER!! Everyone watch it! I'm gonna watch it as soon as I get back home, okay, on my way out now! :)

FableForge's Foundlings #6: Ironman trailer to be turned into a movie

I love the Onion. They just broke some news: did you know what those hollywood assholes are doing this time? They're taking the IRONMAN trailer we all know and love.... and expanding it into a freaking 90 minute long movie!!

Leave our beloved media icons alone! The IRONMAN trailer must remain unspoiled! :)
Hehehehehe...

ahh...

I wont even spoil this with mere words, here, watch, laugh, weep, and learn, my cinematic bruddhas:
