Dreams

Who have you always dreamed of becoming? What have you always dreamed of doing? How have you always dreamed of living?

There are dreams, and then there are dreams. There are dreams which are merely fantasies and then there are the ones you actually bring to life with your time, your effort and your commitment. The dreams you bring to life are the dreams that have the power to change your life and to change the whole world for the better.

How much life are you giving to your dreams? How much energy do you put into living life on your own terms, into fulfilling the special possibilities that are yours and yours alone?

Take the time and listen to your heart. Invest your time and energy in following your highest and best dreams. They are yours for a reason. Follow your dreams. In so doing you'll bring out your best while contributing to life, and the world around you, in your own special way.

Ralph Marston

On set shooting a movie

For anyone who may have wondered, I just wanted to let people know, I'm not around so much because I'm in the middle of shooting a movie. I've been in Pre-production on my segment of a feature length movie for about 2 months now and I begin shooting this weekend. I've also been working on the first segment of the feature for the two weekends before this past one.

I can't say much about it and I'm not sure if I've said this much before but it's a project that has been written with four writers and then it's being split into twelve segments and each segment will be helmed by a different director. Those segments will make up one complete story that hopefully doesn't play out like segments but rather as a complete movie. It's not like a Twilight Zone type thing where it's some kind of string of stories where everything wraps around on itself. It's just like one movie that got cut up into segments so each director could put a part of the whole thing together.

Not sure what else I can or can't say so I'll stop there. The marketing/promotion for this thing will be awesome if it works out the way we plan, if not, it will still be a kick ass story.

Anyway, just didn't want people thinking I was being rude or anything by using the board then going away. Just really really busy because of how we are approaching this project.

The Decision

A young woman struggles with the value of her life.

Actress/Writer Brandy Seymour came to me with a poem she had written and turned into a screenplay. She asked if I would direct and so I did. The concept was really awesome to me, I loved the drama in it and the idea behind it all. Showing the inner struggles that are going on for this character who is very tourtured by the different sides of thier psychy really spoke to me. The damage this person had to have gone through to get to this point is what really stuck out to me. Though it's not horror related it has elements of horror in it, but it gave me a chance to try out something I'm not as familiar with. It's sort of an experimental piece where art film meets mainstream because that's what I consider myself as a director, very mainstream. The fact that the character wins out in the end is cool but you don't know in which way they win until you get there. All three characters in the short represent the same person and it can go anyway at any time. All the acting we really done well and with the small crew we had for this I was just really proud of everyone's effort and I'm proud of this piece.
